I can't believe it. I really can't believe it!

It's been a whole year since left my tower. In a few days I'll be nineteen...and for the first time in my life I'll have a real birthday party. I told everything they don't have to do anything big...but I can tell my parents are up to something. I keep catching them whispering about something!

But still...I really can't believe I am where I am now. A year ago if someone had told me I was a princess, that I'd have a mother and father who loved me, and that I'd fall in love with a thief, I would have thought they were crazy. But that's really all true and I'm so, so glad to be able to share everything with you. I'm so grateful for my friends here. Your support has really meant so much to me, every step of the way.

They are! Which is why I don't mind all of the work. Someday everyone in the kingdom will be depending on me. I'd better know what I'm doing when that time comes.

Well, I can think of much worse future rulers than one who's willing to work to do a good job.

I would hope all rulers would want to that, but I guess that isn't always true.

No, it isn't, sadly. And some of the ones who do don't have the best idea of how to be a good ruler.

I guess all I can do is just try my best.

Yeah. All any of us can do, really.
