How many of you are from worlds with advanced medical technology? By that, I mean being able to treat and cure some cancers, reattach severed digits, transplanting organs from one person to another, or other similarly complex things. If there's magic instead, what sort of ailments can that magic cure?

I'm a surgeon specializing in children, you see, so I'd like to know where my home is in comparison to others.

[He'd say more, but his pager goes off then. Muraki checks it, frowns, and quickly shuts the computer off.]

I don't know if it will in others, but it certainly has been possible in mine. Some have been possible for decades, yet they're still the most complicated and fascinating things humans are capable of to prolong life.

...Alchemy could probably do amazing things with medicine too but I don't know much about it.

If magic existed, I'd be pretty obsolete...

But wouldn't it be nice at the same time? Making lives better without surgical complications, organ rejection, or seeing children die before they ever get a chance to live?

Transplanting organs? That sounds... quite difficult. No, I don't believe I am from such a world.

While it's very hard and time-consuming, it's worth it.

We can do all of those things, and more. But I'm afraid I don't know much about it, not being a doctor myself.

That's quite alright. Would you have examples of what else, just to sate my professional curiosity?

I would say pretty advanced. Granted, there really isn't any cures for cancer yet, but everything else you mentioned is possible where I'm from. At least in United Federation. All the other countries aren't as advanced in technology and it's the biggest country in the world.

Are there humans in your world or is it only animals?

I would have to say our medical technology is about average...nothing extremely fascinating.

That's probably how most see it, unless they compare it to how things were even several decades ago.

A lot of ninja have superior medical skills. There are specialised techniques for healing.

Except magic, all the other medicals things can be done in my world. Sadly, not all the diseases are curable.

It would be nice if they all were. My job wouldn't be quite as depressing that way.

Magic here can cure death, in the right circumstances. Assuming of course, one has the right skills.
