[For a moment, all that can be heard is what sounds like soft static, but once the picture clicks on and clears up, it's clear that the sound is nothing more than a nice, heavy rain. It's the kind of evening rain that most people would enjoy after a hot summer day, but from the looks of the shadowed man sitting near the window, there's little joy to be had in it.

A moment later, a little white dragon flutters over to settle on his lap before looking up at the brooding man with a soft 'kyuu' of concern.]

Hakkai? Is everything alright?

Mm. Of course. Just a bit chilled from getting caught out in the rain. Thankfully, we found somewhere dry and warm to spend the night.

[He hates the rain. It stirs up memories he doesn't want to deal with and he knows that Hakkai is the same way. So when he walks up, he just sort of nudges his head with a cup of hot coffee before sitting nearby with his own, pulling the cigarette from his mouth long enough to sip at it.

It's his way of trying to comfort.]

[Hakkai doesn't even look up when he reaches for the coffee. He just knows it's there, and it's Sanzo and that's more than enough for him.

They sit in oddly comfortable silence, both of them sipping at the hot liquid before Hakkai sighs softly.]

Would you prefer to switch with Goku or Gojyo?

No. You're stuck with me.

[Isn't that always the case?]

Shall we make bets on how long before one of the others comes barging in here with complaints?

[He doesn't really bother to time it. No, he's still watching out the window with a look of long practiced calm.]

[He's silent for a time before he sighs.]

This had better stop before tomorrow.

[Hakkai doesn't respond until there's a commotion outside their door. Thankfully, the noise ceases pretty quickly so neither of them need interfere.]

And if it doesn't?

Then we figure out what to do.

[He blows smoke out into the air.]

[Hakkai's only answer is a low mumble of noise before he turns his attention back to the rain.]

[Sanzo sips at his coffee some more. The rain is shit and he hates it. But it's more tolerable with someone who hates it too.]

[In many ways, he's only tolerant of the rain when Sanzo's around. Of anyone, he's the one that understands.]

Maybe they won't come.

[Yeah. That's not likely.]

Are we really so lucky?

[And sure enough, there's a crash outside and two well known voices closely following the noise. Hakkai just sighs and climbs to his feet.

It only took him a moment to silence their noisy companions and send them on their way.]

That was easy enough.

How much time was that?

No idea.

[Oh, is that a hint of a smile?]

Liar.

[greeneyed_demon]

[Hakkai just muffles a soft chuckle into what's left in his cup.]

We were both off. It was eight minutes.

Fuck it. We were both right. Five and three is eight.
