[last accidental video of canon!]
[The scene appears to be a wide patio, white paving stones next to the tall white walls of a castle. It's an impressive building, but there are cracks all over, and holes in the patio full of rubble. It seems things haven't been going too well here.
But there are people on the patio, nonetheless. One is Masamori, surrounded by a sphere of dark energy. He's watching the others from a short distance, keeping a particular eye on a small boy with a bloody hole in his kimono and strange eyes. The boy, for his part, is talking to a striking woman, with long black hair and odd eyes of her own, who is visibly upset. The woman has a coat draped over her that some people may recognize as Masamori's (and seems not to be wearing anything else), and is holding a sleeping girl in her arms.
The boy looks downwards with a bitter smile as he speaks. For all that the voice is young, he doesn't speak like a child. He is precise, well-spoken. Disenchanted.] Really...what an idiot. [He laughs, but it's not a sound anyone would associate with joy.] We change so quickly, and quickly forget things, so we lust for the certain... [He loses the smile, and looks off to the side, towards one of the piles of rubble.] Did Tsukihisa really believe I was his elder brother?
[The woman looks at him with sad sympathy.] Master...
[His next words are flat. Objective.] But I should have moderated myself. We both wanted too much, and therefore went too far.
[The boy stands up, and turns to Masamori, who shifts slightly in anticipation of action. But the boy just speaks.] Sumimura. Can I leave this child to you? [Masamori is surprised, though it's only just evident in a widening of the eyes, a slight parting of the lips.] I want to return this child to this body. [The woman is shocked.
Masamori considers this for a moment, before stating gravely-] I will accept this judgement.
You don't need to treat me like a human. I know how puny an existence I am. [The boy is looking down, but his fists are clenched tightly. Whether he's more ashamed or angry is difficult to say.] And more than anything, I now feel too ashamed to even stand before mankind anymore! [His voice weakens.] Please...
[Masamori looks at him, then glances off to the side with a small sigh, a look of pain on his face.
The boy looks up with a dead-eyed smile.] I'm glad you're the one who appeared in the end.
[Masamori closes his eyes.] ...Why did you recommend me to be on the council?
I didn't have a particular reason. It's just that the annoying man before you recommended you so much. [Masamori appears surprised again for a brief moment, as the boy turns back to the woman and kneels in front of her, bowing his head.]
Suigetsu. Ever since I started wanting you to be my wife, I went overboard. I'm sorry.
Don't apologize! [For all that she's still upset, there's a blush on her cheeks.] You're the one I chose!
[He smiles softly at that, and stands again. She looks at him with concern. He reaches a hand, marred somewhat with blood, towards her face, but draws it back before touching her after all.] I never intended to kill you from the start. [He turns back to Masamori. If you don't have good spiritual or magical senses, nothing will seem to happen in the next few seconds. But those with them will see a strange sea snake, with a starfish-like creature in its mouth, exit the boy's mouth and move towards Masamori.]
Wait... [Suigetsu seems heartbroken. But it's too late- the sea snake and starfish have reached the energy surrounding Masamori, and are disintegrated in a moment.
The boy collapses. Masamori dissipates the energy around him, and leaps the few steps to pick the boy up. The woman seems to be trying not to cry.]
You're really such a fool!
[While he gathers up the boy, something in the air seems to catch Masamori's attention. But the community has decided you don't need to see that, evidently, since the video cuts out.]
((ooc: regular text is Masamori, bold is Oumi Nichinaga, italic is Suigetsu. Replies will icly come the next day.))

I wouldn't call it a spirit, exactly. But it was something close.

If it wasn't a spirit, what was it?
