What is all this? These pictures in my book. They're awful. People are dying. Suffering. Surely this can't all be real. So many people hurting like this...

Please tell me it isn't true. That it is some awful illusion. It must be.

I believe it was one of these network viruses that seem to haunt this place. It seemed to be... causing a person's worst nightmare seem to come true.

I've survived: at least I lived, but in some ways, that made it worse, since I did not have the luxury of escaping it, as it were. There are some things more painful than death, it seems...

I've had many moments when it wasn't so bad, and times when it was, in fact, quite pleasant here. This, however, certainly wasn't one of them.

I've been through worse things than what that virus caused. I can bear with this.

I've come close to dying and...that experience puts everything else into perspective.
