What is all this? These pictures in my book. They're awful. People are dying. Suffering. Surely this can't all be real. So many people hurting like this...

Please tell me it isn't true. That it is some awful illusion. It must be.

Where I am from that means bad fortune.

Why would you birth order change your luck? I'm sure it meant you had a lot of responsibility growing up but that isn't bad luck.

Then it's true? You really have been cursed with bad luck?

I have not tempted fate in a way in which it would be noticeable.

So you're saying it's true, even though you've never seen it. It's good to have faith in some things but someone else's curse doesn't have to be one of those things.

It is simply the way of things. I am not bitter about it. I am glad for the fortunes my sisters will seek someday.

It's good to care so much for your family, I just worry you're not thinking enough for yourself.

I have my family and our shop. I couldn't ask for more.

A hat shop.

Some. There are others who work in the shop making hats as well.
