Say you were faced with a time of crisis and danger was inevitably to fall upon you and your companions. The only way to stop it temporarily would be by sacrificing your lives. Would you choose theirs? Or yours? There'd be no way of knowing if the danger would return again, or not, so consider that.

Kill one and save the lot...or kill the lot to save one...consequentialism is a pain in the butt because there are so many factors you can twist...

The best part is that some of them aren't on pitch.

So the scenario involves the individual and companions that they know...my companions are a mixed bag. I guess I'd still have to choose their lives as opposed to mine.

It's very easy to call it sensible, but there's an underlying vanity to my choice.

There would have to be an explanation for the sudden name change. I'm not so sure the sacrifice of one man warrants such an action.

From the sounds of it, however, your parents might have quite a history behind them...

They were rearing me to be what they wanted, by the time I hit puberty I no longer wanted to be their trained monkey. There's a lot of tension there, we're a family of perfectionists and strong personalities.
