[ Naomi's at the computer, but she looks... different. Shorter hair. Paler. Thinner. For comparison: then and now. But other than that? She seems content as she regards the community. ] It's been a while, hasn't it? I didn't think I'd have seen these ducks agai--

[ There's a knock on the door with a soft "good morning" attached to it. In steps a young girl, holding a black kitten in her hands. She grins excitedly, rushing over. ]

Look, look! Santa left us another kitty! Isn't he cute?! [ She gives Naomi a careful hug, and then hands her the kitten. Are those blue diamonds studding its collar? Why yes they are. That's one lucky black cat, yep. ]  Merry Christmas, Mom!!

[ Naomi smiles a bit before glancing back at the community to say farewell. ] I suppose I'll be available to catch up tomorrow instead, if others I knew here are still around after these years had passed...

If I am not mistaken... it had something to do with snowfall. And sentient snowmen.

Really? ....My daughter might have liked that.

[ She smiles just a little bit. ] Ah. I remember you, too. It's like you haven't changed at all.

Even if it had been long for me at all since last we spoke, I don't think that I would change at all anyway.

[He shook his head, sighing.]

At any rate, how have you been?

Really...? How much time for you?

I've been well. It seems more the hectic things have finally toned down in my life.

Hardly long enough for me to realize something was wrong--and between us, that is saying something.

[Diarmuid shrugged, less concerned with matters of time and more pleased that she was doing well.]

...What was her name, if I could ask?

[ 'She'? She glances over to the child who now sits by some futuristic-looking fireplace, playing with the kitten. ] Her name's Alyssa. She's turning ten this year, actually.

That's a lovely name. And she's quite cute.

[Little-known but not remotely well hidden was Diarmuid's immeasurable soft spot when it came to children. He leaned his head on one hand, smiling brightly.]

[ It... took a while for children to grow on Naomi. But fortunately it did. ] She's always been such a well-behaved child.

[ Yes finally someone asks. Because no, that kid isn't biologically hers. ]

Oh, no-- I'm not her biological mother. I... adopted her. [ After her parents were killed in a bombing incident by a bomb meant for Naomi. Uh. ]
