Hey. I know I don't normally ask for help, but... this is a little bit of a special case. A few of you have met... oh, where's... there. lil_tanuki, Hayate Yagami. Little brown-haired girl. She's in a wheelchair because her legs are paralyzed... and it's getting worse. Without some kind of intervention, she's not going to last a whole lot longer. Six months, maybe a year. I don't think anyone has the kind of medical capability or healing magic she needs, either.

[There's a long pause; she looks a little off-balance. She told herself she wouldn't cry...]

Anyway... Hayate's birthday is coming up. I know it's a weird thing to ask, but... I want to make it a good one. Because she might not get another one. But I don't know anything about parties, or any of that stuff.

[Rita's face is pleading.] Can... can anyone help me?

[For a moment, Rita is quite sure her heart's stopped. She's looking at a stick that will grant one wish. Any one wish of her choosing.

And she's not even considering using it for herself.]

I... what the hell do I wish for... do I wish for her to get better? But what if it doesn't work, or it comes back...? I don't want to wish for something for the party, that's a waste...

[Not a good time to be indecisive, though.]

[Bowser considers for a moment. Not many have ever seen him so serious.]

It'll work. I'll make sure it does. [Please talk to Hayate's player before doing this. XD]

[Rita's quiet for a long, tense few moments. Then, expression serious, and with clasped hands and closed eyes for effect:]

I... I wish Hayate would be healthy.

[There. No double meanings, no self-centered secondary effects. That should work, right?]

[Bowser closes his eyes, and the Star Rod glows brightly, blinding the camera. Suddenly it stops. Bowser opens his eyes and looks at the Star Rod.]

... Huh. Gotta move closer.

[The Star Rod glows again, and Bowser vanishes.]

[And she waits. For several minutes. It would have been lovely if he'd come back to report, but the time stretches she slowly realizes that either he forgot, or he's not coming back.]

I hope everything went okay... if he hurt her, I'll- [She pauses, a strange look on her face.] No, he wouldn't have done anything. Not if he was out to pay back a debt.

...I'm still worried, though. [Rita would go on to vent her anxiousness on an unsuspecting Karol, who complained of head trauma to anyone who would listen.]

[Bowser reappears in another flash of light, trying to hide the fact that he's beaming from ear to ear.]

(as casually as can be mustered right now) Er, that's done. (thumbs in a general behind-him direction) Have fun. (logs out)

[The great lizard's gone before Rita can get a word in edgewise, but as his offhand remark reaches her, she can feel her spirits soaring.]

It's... done? Then she's okay? But... dammit, I can't go check, I'm in the forest...! And I don't know if I should try to talk to her now... I don't even know if he said why he was there, or that I was involved... ugh!

I guess I'll wait a little while and check in on her. Considering he supposedly fixed things, what's the worst that could happen?
