In exchange for our contract, we are granted a single wish. Our individual abilities are heavily dependant on them, so it seems likely the costume would follow suit. Symbolism matters, in our case.

Wow, you mean you actually get paid to be a magical girl in a sense?

That would depend entirely on the wish.

However, I should add that a Puella Magi has no choice but to fight. The vast majority of us will not live past 20.

...And no, I was not aware of it at the time. But I would have been doomed without my contract anyway, so I have no issue with it.

That's good at least. They should definitely give you all the details before signing up though.

You would become a mermaid. [duh. And then probably die / have distinct trouble moving around a lot unless your Puella abilities could save you or something EITHER WAY IT WOULD BE A BAD IDEA ask Sayaka sometime]

A wish is pure imagination; hence it can achieve anything. That said, only girls with 'potential' can become Puella Magi, so there is a degree of filtering. For instance; there has never been a Puella Magi who made a negative wish.

Our contractors are the sort that would prefer people not to ask questions. If asked, they will answer, but to them the contract is all that matters.

That's good at least. If you got someone trying to contract with "Let's take over the world" you'd probably be pretty screwed.

...If only it was as simple as that. There are other complications as well I would prefer not to go into, but in short I would never advise anyone to become a Puella Magi.

...There is still a need for them. But if asked for a reason why an individual, specifically, should wish to become one, I would not be able to answer.

I guess the witches you were talking about aren't things an air strike could take care of.

Yes and no. They are susceptible to modern weaponry as far as I am aware; the main issue is that they hide in Labyrinths. Only a Puella Magi can break in; otherwise they enthral ordinary humans inside and kill them.

Have you considered breaking in with a rocket launcher?

Whilst it's a pleasant concept, I neither know how to handle nor acquire such things. Or, indeed, how to hide them. [because patrolling with an RPG over your shoulder wouldn't be conspicuous. At all.]

Military backing, maybe? Get a magical girl in the army.

I always wondered if the people who pick out young girls to fight their battles were lolicons...

It is more a case that inexperienced youth are easier to deceive, I think. The ones that contract us are not human, nor do they posses emotions.

Regarding the magical girls of the other worlds I would prefer not to comment.
