The wizard Howl's castle was seen moving over the hills near Market Chipping again today. Fanny was fretting with a customer about how he must be coming to steal another young girl's heart.

You see, there are stories of the terrible wizard Howl, and how he steals the hearts of young women to become more powerful. And yet...I have never heard of someone who knew of this first hand. It seems that someone always hears the story from a friend or acquaintance, who heard it from another friend or acquaintance and so on...

I was wondering, community, do you know stories and rumors like that? Where the source of them seems unknown? Do you put much stock in such stories?

Sometimes, I think the girls of Market Chipping just like to frighten themselves.

And you create these tales? For what purpose?

There used to be a whole bunch of stories like that back in Twilight Town. Urban legends and stuff like that, you know?

What were some of the stories about?

Ghosts, mostly. People used to think the abandoned mansion on the outside of town was haunted by this girl in white.

Not all of them. But at times...I suppose some are.

I know there are some rumors like that about the suitors people have. I don't pay them any mind.

You don't mean stories of suitors that eat people's hearts, do you?

Oh! Goodness, that's much better then. One person eating hearts is certainly bad enough.

Isn't that how stories come from anyhow? Someone experiences something and passes it on?

Yes, but I wonder how much of the truth remains after time.

Hmm, true. Stories can get convoluted after a while.

I don't know about hearts specifically, but there are certainly some fairies who eat humans or parts of them.

Yes. Kelpies eat humans completely, except for the liver, for example. Merrow drag humans to the bottom of the sea to drown them and let them sit for a while before they eat them. It's much worse if you get into the Unseelies, of course.

I don't think rumors like that are worth paying much attention to.

I imagine there are some exaggerations, but I can't help but wonder what the wizard does when his castle comes by.

If he was stealing people's hearts, I don't think he'd use something as noticeable as a castle.
