Normally I look like a human, but that's a disguise so people on Earth don't see my real form and become frightened or worse.

A lot of the planets around Earth were named after legends and gods, at least by the people on Earth, so I can see why you don't meet a lot of Marses or Jupiters or Mercurys.

Earth hasn't traveled that far out yet, but a writer named a kind of a god after us.

The god was named after the planet that you were named after. So, to the other people on Earth, they assumed you were named after the god (who was named after the planet) and it comes full circle.

If you came out as an alien, your name must seem a little less strange to them. In a way you're lucky (?) that nobody's taken it as a cue to worship you.
