I don’t disagree that they should learn. Both sides should learn to understand each other. Otherwise there will always be problems.

Indeed. But Muggles are a threat, if only because of there numbers. They'll need to be kept under control at first.

I'd think that's more of a reason to try and help them understand. I don't know if just "under control" would help. It might create more resentment.

If they are not controlled they would likely go back to their old ways of murdering us simply because we exist.

So we must make them understand and understand that we will not be easy targets.

There is no reason for us to be fearful of them.

True. You do not, but if you only try to make them fearful of you, it will only add to the trouble between the two.
