I've been trying to contact him for a while now, but it's possible he's been let go.

He's a blue hedgehog. Pretty hard to miss him.

I do not have a traditional job, but when I was ever in need of money I did mercenary work.

Generally, my people have no need for money, but I understand many are not so lucky. If you are looking for employment, I am sure I could find something for you to do.

I've got nothing really to do and it's been really quiet lately. No trouble popping up or anything.

I usually work on my airplanes or do computer repair for people. Since more and more people are able to repair their computer themselves, I haven't been getting much business in a last couple years.

Airplanes and computers...those seem rather disparate skills.

Not really. If you know what you're doing, it's not that hard.

Then perhaps you should expand your repertoire. Certainly there are more skills you could learn.
