Status Update

So, while I wasn't able to keep them OUT of the dungeon, I went in and triggered the trap and kept the others out and walked out with a pile of loot. I've done all I've can now and the Cats are holding onto the earnings that I split with them. But they promised not to be so reckless anymore.

I just need to uh, see about getting a new sword now. This one is getting a little low on stats.

I've got it. Looks like to help out, I've set up timed delivery of in-game mail well before I need to know things. But yeah, I need help once in a while.

Mhm. Oh, and Jin's got a program to make sure me being dead isn't going to screw with the system at all, so we'll test that out to make sure I won't get stuck while your sister works on getting headsets.

I'm about 57 right now.

And that took you how long? Are you grinding or does it just take a really long time?

It's a mixture of quests, grinding and taking down raid bosses that pop up once in a while randomly on various floors with others. Although SAO follows the old Asian MMO tradition in that there's a lot of grind quests. Kill X amount of things to complete the quest.

Okay but how long did that take you? I don't have a lifetime to spend on leveling up if I'm going to help you.

That took me about four months or so. I'd say you could probably make it there in half the time if we're able to hack it so that you start close to my level.

Well I won't be spending 24/7 in there either, I've got something that I absolutely have to do here so it might take me the same amount of time, even with hacking.

Check with your friends if they can't get you some kind of triple experience buff.

I'll ask Riley about it. Jin's running the simulation to make sure that I don't get stuck even though I'm dead, then Riley's working on hacks and stuff I think. Oriko said she's willing to make sure I can get back each time so Battler doesn't have to.

[ Battler's the one she'd trust to do it most, but she knows he wouldn't be okay with having to regularly kill her. She's not going to put him through that. ]

I'll get in contact with Riley soon to figure out how well that's going. I think he might need access to the game itself to really do anything though, so if we can't get a copy of that we might have to improvise.

Ask Suguha for a copy of the game. I've got one actually in my desk drawer and all the games are installed into the NerveGear after all.

Not a problem. The disk is plug and play, so you just need to run the set up. There shouldn't be any patching required either.

If we put it into a computer, do you think it would run the whole time? I should probably grab Takeyama's laptop for Riley if that's the case so he doesn't have to ruin one of his own if the program doesn't shut down.

I think it can be installed on a laptop. There's an option to play it normally or at least manage inventory. You might be able to get more functionality that way.

Well I trust Riley will figure it out, I just want to get something for him to work on and Takeyama's already gone so that thing's just sitting there anyway. He'll probably have a field day with it too, Takeyama was basically a genius-level hacker. Riley seems to be into that kind of thing too.

Too bad. Well, at least we've got more people to help now.

They're happy now, I'm not sad that they're gone. "Too bad" isn't really how I feel about it. [ Lonely, sure, but not sad that they found peace. ] It seems like we've got a good team to help you guys out.
