Oh, I'm so glad this invention of St. Germant's allows me to write out things as well. Georik and Sebastian are about and I don't want them to hear what I want to ask.

Will someone here be able to teach me how to fight with a sword?

I can if you want. I mainly use a saber, but if you want to use a different kind of sword, I could arrange it.

A saber will be fine. My older brother doesn't believe I should wield a weapon but... times are getting dangerous.

Anyone who desires to learn to use a weapon should be allowed to.

I can provide the swords then. When and where do you want to have these lessons?

I could prepare the garden for it but I wouldn't want to be seen by either my brother or Sebastian...but I know an area near the village that might work.

The best time would be when my brother is doing his rounds. Around midday.

That can work. As long as you give me the name of your world and the village, I can easily world hop myself there.

Why is there a need to? Are you in danger?

No, I'm not. At least not directly. Lately there have been trouble in the local village of Geutrink. It worries me. Georik often does his rounds there leaving our elderly servant and I alone. My brother thinks that such as riding a horse or swordsmanship doesn't suit me.

If nothing else it will pass the tedium of living in the country for so long.

It isn't uncommon for a lady of your status to have someone for protection, but that doesn't sound like something you'd want.

Have you found someone who will teach you?

If Georik had his way, he'd have the Captain of the Royal Guard himself come down from Kamazene to be my bodyguard. It would be terribly embarrassing to have a bodyguard--no offense to the Captain, of course.

A lady with the name of Rose offered to teach me.

Ah, I can't say I blame him for worrying about his sister. If it were me, I would most likely do the same, though it would also be of some relieve to know she could fight, if she were somehow caught alone.

I believe Georik thinks that doing so would only aggravate the asthma that sent us to the countryside to begin with. With all do respect to him, I believe my health is steady enough to start learning such things. I've even been taking lessons in horsemanship while he's been out. A lady must have things to do keep tedium at bay, Earl Ashenbert.

[He'll grin. In some ways, she reminds him of a certain Fairy Doctor.] Wouldn't most ladies choose reading? [Of her station, anyway.]

[But the grin turns into a chuckle.] But I assure you the secret is safe with me, though if you've been sick, you shouldn't push yourself too much.

[She practically puffs herself up, looking slightly offended in the way only the young and inexperienced can.] I do read! I've read many books from my father's study. I merely wish to be able to do more things on my own rather than relying on my brother for so much.

[She smiles a little bit at that.] Thank you for your concern. The air in the capital was rather bad--Geutrink's air is purer and my cough has subsided since then.

It's dangerous everywhere or so I'm told but I would like to be prepared.

With all do respect, Mister Lucifer, I don't think I could explain a devil teaching me swordsmanship.

You're a good swordsman?

One of the best. Physical ability counts for something, yeah, but with a sword you can't get around knowing what you're doing with it even if you're strong. It'd be good for you to learn.

It seems like it would be a good weapon to learn. Any brigands would see a wealthy villa easy prey--I can't exactly expect my brother stay home all the time.
