[Edgar looks thoughtful as his face shows up on screen. He's sitting at a desk, the camera angle showing it's probably an intentional video.] Power can be a funny thing. Depending on the place it can be physical, it can be knowledge, sometimes it can even be magical.

[Then he smiles. His voice is light, as if it's not a heavy topic.] I wonder, with so many worlds, what kind of power is out there. Some of you even have it, as I've been lucky enough to see. Out of curiosity, tell me about some of them.

In my galaxy political power is the most important. Inquestors command total loyalty from their subjects and have complete power over life, death, economics and world creation. In essence, we are gods, but our power rests upon the world's acknowledgement of that power, not out of any abilities of our own.

Are you saying that if no one believes in your power, then it doesn't exist? That's an interesting situation. It may seem that you hold all the power but they have some degree of it as well.

Alchemy's the big one here that I don't see too many other places. Before you ask, I don't got the talent for it, so that's really all I can do's tell you about it.

We have. It doesn't seem like a wide spread power, however. Or one that many acknowledge.

Alchemy seems to be the most popular answer so far, actually. [As in, two people. Counting him.] Is it a wide spread talent in your world?

Is it a natural talent or is it something that one can practice to grow stronger?

I got a couple alchemists on staff. Not everyone can do it and not everyone can do it good, but it's common enough there's whole branches of the military dedicated to it. Guess somethin's gotta even out for the fact that we ain't got dolphin soldiers.

Alchemy is more widespread in other countries. Our country is the only one that has banned it.

Then they must have some dark history with it? Did something happen to make it decidedly dangerous?

[Besides the obvious, in which he supposed alchemy could be incredibly dangerous. Or useful.]

You employ them? Is there any chance I could see them at work? It's something that's long been abandoned here but if there's a chance to witness it happening, I would be grateful.

I suppose it could be used for both good and evil, as most great powers usually are.

Yeah, sure. It'll be useful to me if you can get some people doin' it and putting some royal research funds into it on your end.

I assume FMA Alchemy would not be similar to Edgar's world on it and thus not able to be duplicated either way but they'd both probably try to look into it.]

Indeed. It is only through their loyalty and that of the beasts that serve us that we retain our right to rule. So the worst thing that can happen to our kind is to be stripped of our titles.

Well, if I remember correctly the king was trying to 'modernize' the country by pushing forward with science. Alchemy is dangerous but so is science.

Are you talking about manipulating a heart as well?

[she knows all about that as well, and boys have tried to do that to her in the past too.]

The beasts? Since I assume you don't call your people by that name, what are you talking about?

There are many that consider alchemy a science, though it's a dead branch in many of our worlds.

How powerful would you call alchemy? Do you know it's limitations?

It happens, doesn't it? It can also be a strong motivator. There have been a lot of people who had done evil in the name of love.

It is a science, at it's core. It's a pity the king doesn't agree.

Well, it can create eternal life or even bring back the dead--at least, that's how powerful the great alchemists were said to be. It could take a lifetime to even learn half of it. I only know the basics, myself.
