It's magic can only be recharged using 'grief seeds' dropped by Witches we defeat. Furthermore, there are consequences to running out of magic. Accordingly, it's best to limit it's use as much as possible.

That said, in an emergency, you would need to know how to defend yourself, and would stand a better chance than Mr. Sasahara.

It's dependent on the individual. In my case, I am a ranged finger; I fight with telekinetically launched and manipulated metal spheres.

Focus on the ring, and want for it to turn into its real form.

That's how you transform. We fight primarily on instinct; a Puella with a sword, for example, will know exactly what to do with it even if she's never touched one before. If you encounter trouble, act as feels natural to you.

There's one final thing. The gem at your neck is where the Soul Gem has currently taken residence. It's the weak point. If another Puella does appear, target theirs and run.
