Halloween Incoming

So it seems like community time is saying that Halloween is coming up soon. Who wants to get together in one of the synced worlds for some epic trick or treating? Our Halloween isn't for a few months in Kanon Town or I'd ask everyone to come here.

Go ahead and make plans with one another, so we can figure out which of our worlds is synced up with the community. Find costumes and stuff. If from what I read happens sometimes on the community, make sure to dress in something you can move in too.

What's trick-or-treating?

Its when people dress up in costumes and go door to door getting treats from people's homes. In Kanon Town we've got a big festival accompanying it too.

Do you do that at the festival, too?

I do actually! I've got this cute black and orange dress I've been saving for it, though I might do a costume for this round as well.

They don't make you wear a costume to get the candy?

Only if we really want to. There's no mandate for dressing up if you want candy. It's just a fun holiday and all.

I can't imagine doing anything like that where I live.

It's definitely not a holiday where you live I take it?

No. They might have it in the Capitol, though. It sounds like something they'd like.

It usually happens around the end of October on the 31st if you want to check up on it.

You mean check up on it here?

Yeah. You have calendars in your hometown right?

Of course.

Then if you ask around you should be able to find out then.

Or I can just wait for people to start talking about it.

That seems like a very laid back way of gathering information, especially about a holiday.

So? Holidays like this aren't that important.

Don't kids have something to look forward to each year? With the free candy and fun costumes?

We have a lot to look forward to. Candy and costumes just aren't a part of it.

Is Halloween the only thing kids have where you come from?

Oh no there's a lot of holidays back home. Christmas, New Years Eve, Valentines Day, Easter Holiday... a lot!

What are they like?

I'm just curious. I like my Distict and the way we do things.

They're really fun! Some holidays you get a lot of candy and chocolate. Other ones you get gifts for people you like and exchange them with others. It's really a time to bring people together and celebrate everything.

Does everybody get to participate?

Yep. There's really no age limit for this, or bias to people at all.

Do you have any celebrations or events where people have to prove themselves? Competitions and stuff like that.

Every four years in a two year rotating cycle we have the Olympics which started years ago in Greece and has been adopted across the world now.

What's it like? Do you want to compete?

It's a sporting competition consisting of various sports: hockey, soccer, swimming, ice skating and all kinds of things. As for me, probably not. I don't have that kind of aspiration. Lately I've been thinking about becoming a musician since I'm enjoying my piano playing.

What are the stakes? Is there a lot of danger involved, and a lot of glory if you win?

People who win are often claimed as national heroes, there's no danger though. It's all sports but you get a lot of accreditation if you win.

What about the losers?

They just go back and train for the next games, compete in competitions for other challenges, stuff like that.

In our competitions, you only get one chance to compete. It makes it more special for us.

Ah, sounds tense. Different but a little more tense, like you want to finish and compete properly.

Right. And only one person finishes, so unless you're really good, the odds are not in your favor.

Ah I see. That does make it a lot more competitive in nature.

And more exciting to watch, too.

So it's all televised. Most of our games are televised as well, though the Olympics is pretty well drawn out over the course of a week for all sorts of stuff. Maybe more depending on how many teams there are.

The Hunger Games usually last at least a week, too. The Capitol likes things drawn out, for the suspense.

That's an unusual name for a competition. Is there a backstory to it?

I don't think so. It's just what they're called. The name doesn't matter much.

Ah okay. Well it sounds like quite the competition.
