I'm sorry it's been several days, community! Schoolwork is keeping me dreadfully busy-- not that I'm complaining, of course. But I just had to come and talk about something strange that's happened. Harry and Ron don't remember this place at all! I know this happens sometimes when people leave, but they didn't forget right away, only just now. Has this happened to anybody else's friends?

There's nothing wrong with old. Old books are so very often the best.

And you write! What sorts of things?

Lots of people are in my future here, but... I wonder. My relative time could be different from the community's. It didn't used to be, but it would explain some things.

Nothing here is really easy to figure out, is it? Of course, that doesn't mean it's impossible. You just have to ask a lot of questions, like I'm doing now.

Oh, all sorts of things! The general subject is magic, but of course, there are so many classes to take within that. History of Magic, Herbology, Transfiguration... I can go on!

They didn't forget quickly, though, that's the problem. They remembered for at least a month, until just now.

Things change, sometimes. I've seen plenty of examples with unique relative time scales, even before the community. Sometimes magic can shift their time scales, too, and that's before we get into the usual absurdly powerful magical artifacts.

It's easy enough as long as you just assume the community does what it wants. That's the main rule.

Old to me, I've been keeping company with the same old books and Shureia won't get new ones.

Fiction and political treatises mostly. Nothing I'm willing to share over the Network.

I've gone through enough that I'm pretty sure I would have seen you sooner or later. Time really seems to flow differently around here.

Go on. I have an invested interest in magic, but the magic I've been shown is probably very different from your magic...more like parlor tricks.

I think that's fairly normal, the reports that we get vary widely--sometimes it's instantly and sometimes it's out of the blue.

Affecting time takes a lot of highly powerful magic. Are there really very many people here who could do it, do you think? I doubt it.

I hardly know you. And I doubt my politics are relevant to your politics.

But wouldn't you rather figure out why?

I would have thought so. That's how it usually happens.

It doesn't normally-- at least, it didn't used to. I've never heard of anyone who it's happened to before.

Well, I go to a magical school. I'm only just in my first year, but of course I've been doing all sorts of extra reading. I couldn't really tell you my favorite subject-- I love them all!

Someone who is passionate about their studies and I assume you're ambitious in your achievements. Those are fine qualities I can get behind.

So what subjects are you taking now?

Are they secret, then? That's a bit silly, isn't it. Most treatises are meant to be shared.

Unless there is a artificially created underclass of enslaved magic users in your society, they hold no relevance to you.

Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy-- and History of Magic, Transfiguration, and Herbology, like I already said. I can't wait until third year; that's when we're allowed elective classes.

That's quite a few, at that rate you could graduate early...or is it not done the same way in schools where they teach magic?
