[tenminutes]

[ When this post starts up, it doesn't look like it's from any of Yuri's worlds. That's because it isn't. It's just some regular school, obviously on break for lunch, and there's a girl with her hair tied back in a ponytail. She's got a green ribbon in her hair with a little golden butterfly clip in it, her bangs still down and cleanly cut. It's a different school uniform. This one's got a plaid green skirt with a plain white, short sleeved blouse and a little green ribbon beneath the collar. It offsets her bright magenta hair quite a bit, but that's why she keeps it tied back to make sure it doesn't seem overpowering.

There seems to be some kind of conversation going on between her and two other girls all sitting with their tables turned together in the classroom. ]

Hiroshi's sister told me that he's going to ask you out, Yuriko.

What are you going to say?

She's going to say yes, obviously.

What, are you expecting me to make chocolates or something? It's already Valentine's Day, it's not like I can go back in time to!

[ The girl who certainly looked like Yuri laughed a little as her friends started teasing her about how that's better since she'd probably kill him if she had made chocolate, hitting one of them in the arm, but rather suddenly stopping and shutting her eyes. ]

Yuriko? What's wrong?

I'm fine, I'm just-- Dizzy. I think I'm going to go to the nurse's office. [ 'Yuriko' stood up from the table, her hand supporting her on the desk as she did, her friends looking pretty concerned. She smiles, waving her other hand dismissively. ] I'm fine, I'll be back later. Tell the teacher I went to go rest.

[ With that, she makes it to the door, opens it, and there stands Hiroshi with a bouquet of stargazer lilies. ]

Y-Yuriko!?

[ He clearly wasn't expecting her to open the door right as he was about to come in, but the flowers dropped to the ground as suddenly so did the girl, completely fainting. The video seems to black out at that point.

It doesn't seem like it's done if you keep watching though. About 20 seconds of blank screen later, it looks like the sun is setting in the window of the nurse's office as Yuri starts coming to. Her hair is down now, her ribbon and clip taken off to the side desk along with her reading glasses case and her backpack on the floor next to it. The lilies were sitting there too. She sits up slowly, looking around then looking down at her hands. Obviously something is wrong. The school nurse comes in after a second though and she quickly puts her hands down, looking up attentively at him. ]

Are you feeling any better? It seems like you fainted at lunch time. And on Valentine's Day of all things, poor dear.

[ Yuri looked up at her, there definitely being a different look in her eye than there was before. Instead of that carefree attitude, she looks like she knows something's very, very wrong. ]

I'm fine. I need you to call someone to take me home, just in case I get dizzy again.

[ That wasn't the reason. She had no idea where she was or what was happening, that was the reason. Last thing she remembered was.. well, it was disappearing so that her soul could reincarnate and the person who she became after that could live a happy life. Not suddenly waking up with very vague memories of everything that had happened in this life quickly being forgotten as her old ones start reawakening and she doesn't know why.

The nurse gives her a look because she looks anything but 'fine' right now, but goes to call someone. The video ends after Yuri quickly jumps out of bed and goes through the things next to her, the backpack, trying to find a wallet to figure out what the hell is happening. Why the hell she's pretty sure she's alive and whoever used to be here is fading fast. ]

Hold on, I'll GoogleMaps a park.

[ Give her a few minutes. ] There's one that's about a 10 minute break.

Good. I'll see you soon.

[tenminutes]

[ Yuri doesn't say anything else, she's just going to find that wallet again. This girl didn't wear thigh high socks and it's driving her nuts, her legs are cold. Might as well pick up some on the way. So Yuri's going to come about 5 minutes later or so since she just stopped at a nearby store. ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

[That's not a huge issue, since Karen gives her some extra time anyway in case she runs into unexpected obstacles.

As is typical, her arrival is heralded by the extremely unsubtle appearance of a giant door that isn't attached to anything.]

Yuri-san?

[tenminutes]

[ When Karen's coming in, Yuri's sitting on a park bench putting those socks on. She looks up at Karen and waves. ]

Is it bad that I'm not used to seeing cars around? I feel like I'm from the 15th century it's been so long.

[oceanicbutterfly]

[At last, the mystery of what's under her stockings is answered! Karen sits next to her, declining to question the change of socks.]

That's perfectly reasonable, I think. Like you said, you've had time to get used to them not being there.

[tenminutes]

[ It's just legs!! Yuri seems to reach up, touching her head since she doesn't have her headband. It's a little weird, but distracting herself with things like this is weird on its own. ]

I've also had time to get used to not being able to die. I nearly got hit at a stop light and my heart didn't even skip a beat.

[ This is going to be difficult, all of her instincts against danger are pretty well gone. ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

[Yeah, but they're nice legs. Karen hadn't even specifically noticed the missing headband until now. Just one more thing that's not quite right.]

That's a problem. We're going to need to keep a close eye on you for a while. You have a responsibility to take care of yourself now.

[tenminutes]

[ They are very nice legs, yes. Yuri slumps against the park bench a little as she slips her shoes back on. ]

[ It sounds like she's an outpatient the way she's saying that. ]

I mean it.

[Karen smiles.]

There's a Valentine's Day party tonight. You should go.

[tenminutes]

[ She has to think for a second. ]

Kendrix's?

[oceanicbutterfly]

That's right. [Oh hey, she remembers.]

[tenminutes]

[ It feels like she's been asleep for far too long. It feels as though her memories are all there, she's just still not awake. She'll get used to it. ]

Maybe. I'm not sure Battler's going to be up to it.

[ She's still not sure how to face him. Or if she even can until he comes to her, since she doesn't have a worldhop anymore. ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

[Karen reaches over to give Yuri's shoulder a little squeeze. She can't begin to imagine what this is like for Yuri; she can only offer what support she can.]

He will. After seeing you back? He'll be happy just to see you again.

[tenminutes]

I didn't say goodbye.

[ Not to him. Yuri doesn't really look at Karen. She had her reasons, but she still doesn't think they were enough. ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

He'll forgive you.

[Karen has absolutely no basis for saying that but it seems like the right thing to say.]

It'll be all right. Everyone will be happy you're back, and you'll figure things out here, too.

[tenminutes]

Of course he will. It doesn't mean I should've done it.

[ At least Yuri seems to know Battler enough. ]

I don't know how well I'm going to be figuring anything out. I just want to get out of here.

[oceanicbutterfly]

It'll be all right. [The same reassurance again, accompanied by another little squeeze.]

Do you have anywhere in particular you want to go?

[tenminutes]

I mean legitimately run off to another world and stay there, but that's not an option.

[ At least she knows that. ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

[Karen doesn't really have anything she can say to that. She kind of awkwardly pats Yuri and stays quiet.]

[tenminutes]

Make me a magical girl, Karen, then I can at least not have to worry about accidentally dying constantly. Magical girls are hardy, right?

[ She's joking. Time to bury those feelings. ]

[oceanicbutterfly]

Not all of us. [Siiigh. In that context it's hard not to think of certain magical girls who weren't as good at not dying. She wonders how Mami is doing now...

Wait no she is supposed to be doing the cheering up here she's pretty sure. She clears her throat.]

--anyway, what makes you think you could be a magical girl? There are strict requirements.

[tenminutes]

I have brightly colored hair, athleticism, and leadership experience. Does that count?

[oceanicbutterfly]

That was what I had when I was rejected.

[tenminutes]

I get fiercely protective of my friends to the point of destroying an entire world's controlling system.

[ Destruction is probably not what she would need and she knows it, but she's mostly just joking still to try to keep her mind off, so.. She'll just keep pretending that Karen has the ability to make people into magical girls. ]

And for all I know there could be crazy monsters of the day somewhere in this world. I don't even think it's my original world, honestly, or how would I get away with looking mostly the same. I could turn the corner and suddenly there's a dragon hidden in the train tunnels.
