While it is possible I am feeling this way because of this technology, I no longer loathe the large amount of trash that I'll have to clean up. The more of it there is, there more I get to rip it apart and dispose of it, which is quite entertaining. The blindfold he wears isn't so irritating either, and nor is the fact that my Master sleeps for the moment. It simply means that I get to enjoy the eventual tragedy and the pain it shall inflict on him, whether he manages to cast it aside or not.

And soon, my Master shall be in perfect health once again, able to incinerate whatever garbage and mice are left. Even these blazing suns just allow me to rest and eat ice cream. It's quite strange, really, but if this is the result of this technology meddling with the script, it is a very poor attempt to irritate me.

I can't change the things I'm happy about any more than you can change your backstory. Normally, I'm not happy about these things at all, so this small change in the script is interesting.

Now, I can't divulge all my secrets about the tragedy. If I tell you who the audience member is, you might try to warn him.

And while he is the sole audience member of the tragedy I'm constructing, there are going to be others involved. One needs a large cast if they're going to pull off a grand production.

My role doesn't include being a mathematician, but I won't take that risk.

I won't risk having you harm my Master or changing the script of my play. I've already finished and revised it. I would prefer not to do so unnecessarily.

[It's one in... a lot. Vash is surprisingly good at math, most people would be shocked to know his IQ, but he would need to know the world's population to have an answer to that.]

It's definitely necessary and I don't even want to hurt your Master. It's just a nice, friendly talk.

[While Legato knew enough math to get by, and could divide large numbers, it was pretty much impossible to find out the actual chances, since..probably no one knew exactly how many people there were on Gunsmoke. Plus, the numbers still wouldn't change his answer.]

It isn't. A tragedy is supposed to cause the audience to cry. If I were to change it, it would not longer be the sort of production I want. And while that's what you say, I won't risk it, and nor will I bother him with your ideas.

[Even if he knew Legato and Knives knew each other, he didn't, Vash had no way to know how much Legato knew. Did Knives tell him about their time on the ship, why their believes were so radically different? Or had he just told him of one fateful encounter?]

Life can make you cry even if no one dies! Like when you find out you don't have enough money for the hotcakes or you hit your toe against the table.

[Knives had told him everything about the two, though he had painted Rem as a woman who was trying to delude them with her idiotic logic. While his brother had been blinded by his, he certainly hadn't.]

Those can be small tragedies. However, they are nowhere on the scale of the one I have scribbled down, and there are good things to them. If you cannot buy the hotcakes, someone else can and enjoy them, and someone else might avoid hitting their toe if you are the first one to do so.

I don't want somebody else to buy the hotcakes! I want to buy them! And why am I the one who's suppose to toe test the tables?! I didn't even get the hotcakes!

But if you do not get the hotcakes, someone else will be able to enjoy them, and perhaps they might share with you. Doesn't that thought make you happy? And if you get hurt, perhaps everyone else will be wary and won't make the same mistake.

It's alright if you don't know what I'm talking about. I haven't handed you the script that would explain it all. But it is good to see these silver linings in the costumes of things I loathe. Is the same thing happening to you?

Of course. After all, though they are gone, they might come back someday for you. Or, perhaps they died.

True. Some of them may return to you, and others might die upon the stage. And even if everyone here you liked died, you still have people in your own reality you can speak to.

[As far as he knew, he hadn't told the priest anything about his Master and how he was tied to Nicholas, and if Chapel had alerted him of something, he was unaware. While it would be a shame if Nicholas found out this soon in the play and tried to do something, Legato could and would retaliate. His orphanage filled to the brim with disgusting maggots could easily be wiped out.

But, for the moment, while Legato thought that Nicholas might be mildly suspicious-at the very least-of his trash-collecting group, he didn't think the priest had anything that could give him a real connection to the truth.]

I did tell you that my hate would never tire me. However, is this place affecting you the same way?

[Chapel is working under somebody else, long term, and semi-recruiting him for such a task. That somebody else is in charge of a group of particularly competent freaks with a specific very likely inhuman freak of a target. Chapel isn't the type of person to easily bow to somebody else, at least not in his eyes; he's the type who's annoyingly in control and in the know. That he didn't answer many questions about what he was doing and for who may have been a matter of emphasizing the importance of not lingering too much on the details so much, but there was a difference between an imperfect action and an impatient action. Wolfwood's assumption, the more he thought on it, was that he didn't know.

A ringmaster had to be a pretty big deal to be unknown to the likes of Chapel. Even Wolfwood himself considered himself decently versed in the underworld's workings, given his profession--not the holy one, the unholy one.

But no part of his orders had any particular theme. Filtered through Chapel, it was quite nonspecific. But someone else on his world is a part of a murdering cult, one he has no leads on.

Maybe it's his own fault for not looking.

Maybe there's a reason he's not looking.

He's going to tell himself that reason is because right now he already has a job: locate Vash the Stampede. Not to kill, not to hurt, not to do anything, just find. If his current work is so simple, why complicate it?

Maybe when he had something to report to Chapel he could run this man's style and details by him. Until then, it shouldn't be his problem. Which was why he shouldn't be talking to him.]
