Birthdays

So... what do you get for girls from Japan for a birthday? We've got limited supplies here unless we go to London but I heard from Sanya that she and Miyafuji share the same birthday. So... I was thinking that I could probably get something for her, but I'm at a loss of what to actually get her.

Any suggestions?

Well clothes or other accessories normally work well for gifts. I personally think model kits work best for all gift giving needs though. Building mechas of justice is always a good gift to give.

I may have to go with clothes or accessories then. I don't know if Miyafuji has the skill to put together a model after all. She might get frustrated, or somehow glue her hands to her face.

I forget that people do end up gluing their hands to things if they're not careful while building... I normally use toothpicks and other things to apply glue on so it's not on my hands.

Hm.. you could always help her build it? It'd be a great way to bond and spend time together!

Me help Miyafuji? I er... well... [Slight grumbling on her end.] We don't usually get along well enough but I have a grudging respect for her at least.

[The short and long of it was that she hadn't quite accepted Miyafuji as a friend, but a comrade.] I-I suppose I should help her.

It should be easy to build if you read the little manual most kits come with.

Plus even if you don't get along that well like you said maybe your respect can turn in to a better friendship.

Well... I guess you're right. Miyafuji is, well, excitable. She may glue her fingers together.

I see, I see... maybe she can wear gloves so the glue gets on that instead?

Hmm, I guess so. It should keep her out of trouble for a while.

If you don't mind me asking what sort of trouble does she get in to anyway?

She has trouble following orders, cooks gross things like Natto for breakfast, and is completely incapable of being sane.

Natto isn't that gross though...

To be honest this just sounds like a normal high schooler.

It's got a terrible stench! I cannot believe anyone would eat them willingly.

Well I suppose... she would be in high school if she wasn't enlisted like I am.

I guess it's not for everyone, but I know my parents like eating it from time to time.

Enlisted? Like military enlisted or just some group?

Yes, Miyafuji and I are part of the 501st, a Joint Fighter Company known as the Strike Witches.

I don't know much about military groups but since you two are in a fighter company then you have interesting finishing moves right?

If it's not too much to ask could you show me? The club I'm in charge of is building a robot and we've been trying to collect combat data so we can work on getting a working field of motion for it.

Each person has their own abilities, but they're usually once a day abilities. Such as Sturm from Erica and my own Tornarre.

Well, why not. I'll go and ask for some training time and I'll join the mockup battles unless I can get you live footage.

Live footage works as well, Subaru and Frau bow have been using motion sensors but we have a program that works on video.

I can't wait, we'll finally have more data to work with compared to just using the karate club's ace as a base for it!

Live footage will be more difficult to capture, but I think I can do it if I act as referee. I'll have to bring my ipad with me though.

So I should have that data for you in a few days.
