Birthdays

So... what do you get for girls from Japan for a birthday? We've got limited supplies here unless we go to London but I heard from Sanya that she and Miyafuji share the same birthday. So... I was thinking that I could probably get something for her, but I'm at a loss of what to actually get her.

Any suggestions?

Well clothes or other accessories normally work well for gifts. I personally think model kits work best for all gift giving needs though. Building mechas of justice is always a good gift to give.

I may have to go with clothes or accessories then. I don't know if Miyafuji has the skill to put together a model after all. She might get frustrated, or somehow glue her hands to her face.

I forget that people do end up gluing their hands to things if they're not careful while building... I normally use toothpicks and other things to apply glue on so it's not on my hands.

Hm.. you could always help her build it? It'd be a great way to bond and spend time together!

Me help Miyafuji? I er... well... [Slight grumbling on her end.] We don't usually get along well enough but I have a grudging respect for her at least.

[The short and long of it was that she hadn't quite accepted Miyafuji as a friend, but a comrade.] I-I suppose I should help her.

It should be easy to build if you read the little manual most kits come with.

Plus even if you don't get along that well like you said maybe your respect can turn in to a better friendship.

Well... I guess you're right. Miyafuji is, well, excitable. She may glue her fingers together.

Ah -- um, I'm sure she'll be happy no matter what. But, um, please don't be upset if she says "you shouldn't have" or "I don't need anything". That's just polite.

Mmm I see. That does make sense. Though we're of a mixed group of nationalities and I've seen Major Sakamoto accept gifts before. So it shouldn't be too different I'd think.

That's good to know. I've never really got anyone a birthday present this close to the date so I was uncertain of what to do.

Well she likes to train in kendo... she also likes tea and the beach and I think she also likes any kind of present.

Maybe get her a new piece of kendo equipment or get some of her other friends to pitch in for something really nice that she's been saving up for.

A new training item might be good. Though it might cause the Major to train her even harder...

Well does she want it or it'll be helpful? It should be something she really wants. Even if it's something helpful, so are groceries but you don't get someone groceries for their birthday..

Chocolate might be a good idea then. Most of the girls on base like it.

Hmm, I tried making homemade earlier but we ran into some difficulty since I didn't have the right things. Perhaps I'll have to get storebought...
