I found this oddly relative to a predicament I was in awhile ago.

Well, since I haven't asked any questions this week I might as well try now. I think I'm going to go with riddles this time. Riddles are generally fun to work out at least.

I'll start with a riddle, and give you more if you get them right.

"A man was to be sentenced, and the judge told him, "You may make a statement. If it is true, I'll sentence you to four years in prison. If it is false, I'll sentence you to six years in prison." After the man made his statement, the judge decided to let him go free. What did the man say?"

I find puzzles like these very entertaining. I wouldn't say no to continuing.

They're good for when you're bored.

A woman lives on the tenth floor of an apartment building. Every morning she takes the elevator all the way down, and goes to work. In the evening, she gets into the elevator, and, if there is someone else in it she goes back to her floor directly. Otherwise, she goes to the seventh floor and walks up three flights of stairs to her apartment. Why?

Are you bored, then?

Let's see. It doesn't matter who else is in the elevator? Anyone will do?

Extremely bored.

It matters a little. There's a certain type of person who might effect things if it were just them, but I can't tell you what type without giving you the answer. Just know that the woman and the other person who might effect things are the same type of people.

There are worse things to do when bored than ask others riddles. It's certainly one of the things I enjoy doing.

If it's a woman and not a child, the fact that one floor is higher than the other ought not to make a difference... unless she's incredibly short, for some reason?

I thought it might be fun to see who could figure them out.

She might possibly be.

Not as many as you would think. Most people lack the staying power to think things such as this all the way through.
