... now that the stupid virus has worn off and everyone is back to normal, I guess I should point out that Aoko's birthday is tomorrow. She'd like it if people came to visit her for it, I think.

Though even if you don't drop by, you should at least make sure to wish her a happy birthday, right~?

That's not... that's not what I mean. There is a time and a place for everyone to die.

That can't be her time. She suffers too much. So does everyone else. There has to be another way. Death is death, but it doesn't always have to be!

Listen to me, Kaito-san. You saw that room. That room with covered in women. Women who were destined to sleep there--forever, their souls driven by stakes into the ground, covered in tattoos made of others' blood and bearing the weight of everyone they have ever spoken to, until you set them free.

If Reika does not die--if the Unleashing does not occur--we will never enter Kuze shrine. It's possible, once fate is changed, that we will not even remember it. Those women, and likely countless others, will be trapped there, forever, between life and death, knowing no rest. Any boy born in the Kuze shrine will be murdered before he can take his first step. What happened must not be changed.

Then we shut down the shrine, too. We stop it all. Reika's death, the sacrifices, everything.

It is unlikely we would remember. When the past is changed, we are as well. If Reika does not die, we will not know of the horrors which took place there.

Please, Kaito. We can't change this. I will take the responsibility, if it calms you. But I am begging you. If I must beg in person I will. Do not try to change history.

[He has to switch to voice, he's too angry and frustrated to type, and it shows in his tone]

[She's... very tired. She's been crying. Her voice is weak and it trembles when she speaks.]

I know that it's hard. I know that but there are things we just cannot change. We cannot change life and death.

[He hesitates, sucking in a deep breath and exhaling sharply]

Everything has seemed wrong since the start of it all. Reika, the shrine... even being home has left me feeling... wrong. As if I am dirty with blood. What was once constant is now gone. I doubt we will ever feel normal again, even if we pretend to.

... and here I thought I was the only one who felt that way. [a bitter laugh]

So stupid. I can never do anything, can I?

It is a feeling I thought I could forget... It's nearly been two years, but still I--

You did more than I could have, Kaito-san... you were the one who saved her. ... And Minako-san and I, as well.

A lot of good that did, if she has to go through it again. And what if we have to save her again? And go through that curse process all over? And if she crosses over again, is she just going to restart and relive every single hellish moment she went through?

... It is a long story. One you would probably be uninterested in. But I was not always gifted with magic.

[There is a long pause before a burdened sigh]

Life is a cycle, Kaito-san. Who is to say how many times we have had this conversation. Or how many times we have lived. It could be that we are trapped within a loop. But we cannot change it. We are not god.
