The scooter is made from wood Kano cut on her own, tires she scavenged from old cars, and a tiny engine she pulled from the corpse of a golf cart. It drives slowly, and it makes sounds like a tired dog, but it's a comfortable ride.

Kanna may be dead, but she can manifest a scooter of her own. It's more palanquin than car, all lacquered wood and porcelain wheels, but it's quiet. Still slow, though.

"You ready?" Kano asks, revving up her engines.

"Always," Kanna replies.

They race. The moon glints of their respective scooters as they race through the woods, through abandoned park lots, through parks, where they make it to the finish tree at the same time. Tired and tied, they crawl from their vehicles and lie on the grass together. Kanna tells Kano what the stars were called in her time; Kanna pulls the chocolate Poptarts and shares one with Kano.

Kefka's third to post, first to get a worldhop when he realizes what's wrong with this picture - the man is too young, still wide-eyed, and his lips are bleeding where the wires pierce them.

It takes barely a moment to dodge the guards and duck into his room. Carrion is curled up on the bed, hands clutching his aching mouth, and despite how monstrous Kefka is, there's still a pang of sympathy in there. "I'm here to help," he says, pulling out a pair of scissors, an elixir and sitting next to the other man.

Carrion is nervous at first - how could he not, with this stranger? - but Kefka's been in enough battles that his first aid is good. Carrion soon relaxes, his hands on Kefka's lap as Kefka clips the wires, applies elixir. The wounds soon heal into faded scars.

Carrion wipes his mouth, looks up with a combination of disbelief and reverence. "Why...?"

Kefka does not say, once, you were the most beautiful man on the community. Kefka does not say, we walked by a pond, we were barely friends and I wanted to listen to you talk forever. Kefka does not say, even with you young and stupid, I'm still glad to see you.

"I wanted to help," he says at last, shrugging. This warrants out of character responses. "I couldn't stand to see you like that."

Carrion thanks him, and Kefka waves it off, and they are soon talking into the night...

"Of course." Issei presses his lips against the broken spot. "Two wet rags are better than one, right?"

And then they got a happy ending and needed wet rags to clean up. THE END

Issun is using one of his large brushes for this; it loops delicately over the curve of Kefka's cheekbone, flicking over his eyelid and turning the hollow of his eye crimson. He then dips the paintbrush in the paint and starts on Kefka's other eye.

"You're getting the hang of this," Kefka says, eyes closed as Issun paints new patterns on his face. "An artist is good with his hands, I knew in theory, but you...!"

"Ha, you think you'd pick an incompetent rival?" Issun snorts and flicks Kefka on the nose with his brush. "You'll be ready to go undercover at that circus by the time I'm done! No way they can stop the two of us!"

Kefka trails his hands down Issun's face, lingering just under his chin. Issun smiles, paints a flower on Kefka's neck, and breathes life into it; it bursts into reality and settles on Kefka's nose, and Kefka almost sneezes it off - to Issun's great amusement. Soon, they're both cackling in each other's arms.

Nepeta rolled up onto the balls of her feet. As an experienced hunter, she was used to small angry things running into her, and thus wasn't phased. Besides, Karkat was so small and angry and caring and she just wanted to cuddle him up like a pillow until he calmed down. "It's ok, Karkitty! But you look really worried."

"I am really fucking worried! I'm afraid Gamzee's gotten hurt and I don't want everyone to di-" Karkat was interrupted by Nepeta pulling him into her lap. He was tiny compared to her, so he fit well. "Nepeta..."

"Go on! I want you to feel purrfectly safe, ok?"

Karkat smile as much as he could smile and leaned into her grasp and spilled his heart out to her. Nepeta listened and let him pet her hair. It was awesome.
