[ Hey look everyone, it's Pearl! ... and she's not in Kurain village! She is, in fact, in a white room with a large round console in the middle of it, that may look suspiciously like a retro version of the TARDIS anyone who knows the Tenth Doctor may be familiar with. Pearl's dragged a chair into the console room and is sat in front of what must be a screen, looking bored but content. ]

Hi everyone! I caught a ride home from that odd party the other day with the Doctor, but instead of taking us straight back to my world the TARDIS brought us to this strange planet for some reason. We're not really sure why... I guess the co-ordinates must have been slightly wrong or something. Anyway, the Doctor went out to investigate just in case it was important, but he said I should stay here. [ The smallest of refined sighs. She looks a little bit put out about that. ]

I guess I can understand that it might be dangerous, but he's been gone for ages! I had a little look around the TARDIS, but it's so big in here I was scared I'd get lost if I went too far. But I don't know how much longer he'll be gone, so--

[ -- and then Pearl gasps as the lights suddenly flicker for a second or two and a very eerie collection of voices says: We require your assistance.

Then it's gone. But Pearl looks shocked and a little pensive. ] Oh my gosh... but that was...

Um, community? Is it okay to disobey someone to warn them about something, even if you've been told to stay put?

I guess so... I usually try to follow the ones that aren't silly, but this could be really important. I think.

I think it might have just gotten a lot more exciting without me realizing it! That was a powerful burst of spiritual energy in the TARDIS just now. There must be some kind of ghost on this planet!

It would probably be a lot more fun if you were here, Mileina. At least then I wouldn't be on my own if I get lost trying to find the Doctor...

Maybe you could phone him! If he has a mobile phone at that point, that is. Going outside might not be the very best of ideas, if you're not sure where he's gone. Proper emergency protocol is very important to observe at times like these!

I don't think this Doctor has a cell phone, or I would have called him already... but I've got mine, so if I do get into trouble I'll be able to call the community right away. Do you think that would count as proper protocol?

The Doctor I know does, so maybe he just doesn't have one yet! In any case, I think that is certainly close enough to protocol to be safe!

I guess that must be it. Everything in here does seem a little retro, so that might make sense. Well anyway, I guess that means I can go look for him now, right?

Yes! Go and report back with your important findings! I'll be waiting here to serve as mission control!

[ giggle ] Okay, mission control! This is special agent Pearl Fey moving into action!

I'll alert the proper authorities if you do not return within half an hour!

Does the Doctor have a portable whatsit you can contact him on?

A cell phone? I don't think I've ever seen him with one...

What does he use to access the community?

His TARDIS, I guess. And he's not here right now.

[Karen appears to have accidentally turned on her webcam while flailing, and is now hiding in a corner.

Yes, she's hiding from a ghost.

Which may or may not actually be a ghost.

And which isn't actually here, or even in the same universe.

I was pretty scared myself when that voice first started talking, and I deal with spiritual matters all the time! So it's really nothing to be ashamed of.

It's embarrassing, though, and it seems strange.

I don't think there's any problem with the air... still, that's a good idea. I wonder if there's anything in the TARDIS computer about this planet?

You should probably see if there's anything alive too. [Scifi = paranoia about hostile aliens.]

Well, you see, that's the confusing thing, sir! There's definitely something with a strong spiritual presence living on this planet, but I'm not sure if it's alive or dead.

I noticed that bit. [Deadpanned magnificently.] Something you should definitely stay away from. At least until you find out more. But is there anything else livi - ...existing?

I don't know. [ she looks unsure, but not worried. ] I suppose the Doctor doesn't know either, because he went out to investigate.

You said there was a computer. Does it say anything about any beings?

I'm checking now... all it says about this planet is that all the intelligent physical life vanished ages ago. It doesn't really say anything else. I guess it really is a mystery.

Those sound like circumstances where you should probably stay put.

Well... usually I'd agree, sir, but I think it could be very important that the Doctor knows what I've just discovered. That changes things a little, doesn't it?

Do you have a way to keep yourself safe?

Um... [ looking around, looking around... ] Well, I think I saw a bat of some kind when I was exploring the TARDIS before. And I have my cell phone. Would that do?

[...Pearl what have you gotten into.]

Can you reach the Doctor?

I don't think so. I don't think this version of him has a cell phone.
