There are many things. Essentially, from what I have seen, a "date" is merely an excuse to spend time together. Some people spend lots of money on dinner, flowers, and the like. Others simply take their partner to the cinema, or go to a romantic place such as a lake or forest.

Yet others just go and do whatever it is they would normally, only without other people. And some others simply use it as foreplay.

Hm...well my idea of a date might be a little different from some. I like cooking with the person I'm dating, playing sports with them, 20 questions or board games or any kind of game that would help me get to know them, sword fights with those padded swords are always fun...a lot of people like to go out to dinner and a movie.

Food's usually involved somewhere to keep the energy up for the after party, or just 'cause everyone's gotta eat, so it's somethin' easy to have in common. A little social lubricant's good for the same reasons.

Dress yer best and try to look like somethin' they'd wanna be seen with and they'd wanna see again--don't just figure 'cause they're dating you that the every day you is always enough. Show off a little. A date's an attempt to impress someone.

There's a lotta stuff that's just too damned pathetic to do on yer own. Those're solid date things. Same with stuff that might be kinda boring alone can be pretty fun with the right company. Places where you look at stuff, like... zoos or something. Bowling. Movies. Some kinda sports watching thing in person. The future's probably got all kindsa other things.

It is good to go some place that you both enjoy, have a nice meal together, and talk for a bit. Walking is always nice. If you do not know the other person well, dinner and a movie is quite common, from what I understand.

Well, a date usually consists of doing something you'll both enjoy and getting to know each other. Say if the person you're dating likes nature then have a picnic in the park or if they like music then take them to out for karaoke.

And by the end of the date and if the mood is right... kiss. Might to lead to more if that's what you both want.
