That teenage cashier keeps trying to figure out who's the daddy. She asks me every time we go to the supermarket. I think they are taking bets.

[Ariadne, meanwhile is getting the dishes out. She hands them to 11-12 and Light, who go to work setting the table. But Ariadne grins at Arthur’s comment.]
I know they’re taking bets. I heard one of them say it was Lyall. [Lyall quirks an eyebrow as he peers over the top of his newspaper. Alexia, more amused than concerned about the topic pats his shoulder.]

It is curious how they all seem so interested in the topic. I hardly see how it is any of their business, though.

[James wasn't exactly a morning person, nor was he a crowd person. In the breakfast rush, he was more content to hang back, sipping his coffee in a quiet corner. Upon hearing both Randolph and Alexia's honor besmirched, however, he had to speak up.]

[Arthur distributes the food in the different plates that the younger ones are setting and then mores close to James to give him a kiss on the lips.] Everyone likes to talk, just ignore them.

I agree, I don't see how that is at all an appropriate topic of conversation. Surely there's other gossip for them to fixate on.

[Even if it were likely that he had impregnated Alexia, hmph. How rude.]

[He will just be there, nest to James, trying to cheer him up.]

[Arthur, coffee in hand now, sits next to Lyall.]

They were also discussing which one of us is the cutest. 11-12 was winning that poll, I think.

[Lyall folds his paper and sets it down, leaning over to fuss with Arthur's collar affectionately. If he can't get the other men- besides James- wearing cravats, he does at least make sure they look as well as they can.]

I should hope he was. The rest of us are at least twice their age.

Woah! Professor! I didn't know you were a daddy-to-be.

[Arthur doesn't mind that, since he can't wear the cravats if he doesn't want to get funny looks from his costumers and neighbors. It was cute to see Lyall trying so hard, though, specially with Eames.

He raised an eyebrow at the other man. 'at least twice their age doesn't begin to cover Lyall's real age.] That's true. And he is indeed very cute. I have the PASIV ready,in case you want to give it a try later.

[Finally satisfied with the lie of his collar, he sits back to take a sip of tea (coffee in the morning, beastly idea).]

He is a darling boy.

And that would be lovely, thank you- though it does seem somewhat strange to go back to sleep after breakfast.

[Relaxing in her seat at the table. Sipping tea and munching on some scones she brought along.]

[Peeking around his shoulder.]

Perhaps because I tend to go with dear Alexia to the market and they often see us together.

[11-12 listens quietly as he helps setting the table. Occasionally he will glance at the others but mostly he'll listen rather than speaking up.]

[11-12 will watch him for a little while, giving him a shy smile if he turns to look.]

[Well now...was this supposed to be circulating? Now there was going to be a community misunderstanding as well. Still, Klavier will watch with benign interest.]

[Checking things on the community later, Lyall will do his best to head off such misunderstandings.]

I do wonder why the community thought our breakfast interesting enough to record.

I suppose it's convenient as long as it serves the community's purpose. Spying on its members.

[You may notice that a far cry from wearing a cravat, Klavier is wearing a collar with a bell around his neck. It's Schuldig's new regime.]

It does enjoy doing that. Ah, well, nothing terribly improper was seen- though I must assure you, I am certainly not the father.

[He is definitely looking askance at that collar. It isn't at all tasteful.]

I didn't want to ask...but I figured that was the case.

[It's purple though...Klavier's favorite color. Just be grateful that you're no seeing what's under the shirt.]

I would simply hate for someone to get the wrong idea.

I know what you mean...unfortunately it's a common occurrence.

[Klavier turns his eyes down, though he can't see the collar he is acknowledging it...and then he reaches up to ring the bell]

Oh yeah...it is. I think I've gotten used to it I don't really notice anymore...it's for my master's pleasure, he thinks of me as a kind of kitten I guess...

People are so easily confused on matters such as these.

And really, in public? [He has no real objection to the private use of a collar, one cannot judge what goes on in people's bedrooms, after all.]

I suppose there is no accounting for taste.

[Ohoh...and this will be the first time that Lyall is getting this face, the face of displeasure.]
