( VIDEO + TEXT. )
[ there's some rattling and a long-suffering sigh. after a second, the community decides video would be better, but all you can see is a ceiling. boring, right? and then a young woman's voice comes in loudly - ] Charles! You left your thing lying around! [ an unintelligible reply. ] —Well, it's not mine! Where'd you even get this thing? [ ... ] Okay, okay, so I'll throw it out. What is it, anyway... If it's a typewriter, it's a pretty useless one. Where do you put the paper?
[ suddenly, a pretty blonde girl is peering at the community suspiciously, and obviously holding up whatever is recording her in her hands. and then she nearly drops it. ]
Whoa! Is that a movie? Hey, I think I found a really tiny TV or something! Or— wait, wait— [ she sits down on her bed - you can see a fairly plain, but slightly old-fashioned bedroom in the background - and stares at the laptop. after a long pause in which she scrolls, she clicks something and starts to type really slowly. with one finger. she gives a commentary under her breath while she types and frowns a lot. ] How do you use the other characters? Oh my god, this is the worst invention. The shift key doesn't even stay down - oh! I guess I just have to hold it? Uh - okay, this... Hm.
[ then she hits post. ]
Hello? Are these people even real? This is nuts. Charles is going to flip. If there's anyone on the other end of this... whatever, that actually exists, can you tell me what's going on here?

It's a community, so I've heard. And the device you're using, I think it's a computer.

[ but she still has no idea it's recording her. so he gets to watch her puzzle out his reply and type out her message really, really slowly. ]
Okay, so real people. Check. Good to know.
A what community? I've never seen a community on a screen. And you're crazy, computers are WAY bigger than this.
no subject
Yes, a whole community. And they make them smaller. Apparently.

I didn't really mean to find it. Is it the typewriter-computer thing, or the part that has the pictures and videos?

That's a good explanation. It's alright, I understood "computer". Uh, barely, because I've never actually used a computer, but I know a little bit about them. So, it works like a telephone, a television and a typewriter... that also connects to different times around the world. Am I following so far?
