[ accidental video ]

[tenminutes]

[ It was the baseball field. For the first time, it appeared to be raining. Pouring, even. The ground was soaked. The SSS was soaked. And they were all there, backs to each other, weapons drawn. Surrounded by what appeared to be normal students. Normal students, one with a hat commanding them.

Words being said weren't audible, the only audio around was the pouring rain and thunder. Yuri was yelling though, pointing at the leader. One of the NPCs moved and the SSS took up their arms and broke the circle, trying evasive moves above all else. It was obvious that they weren't trying to take out the students, but each and every one of them were trying to get to the boy in the hat. It wouldn't work though. He would pull NPCs in front of him-- use them as shields, hold them as hostages whenever someone got close and that person would be seized by other NPCs. Blood was being spilled left and right and they still continued fighting.

Yuri moved to the side after tapping Hinata on the shoulder and ran into a building with Hinata covering her. After a few moments she comes out, looking at Hinata, then she ducks down behind the building and pulls out a walkie talkie, repeatedly calling into it.

Gunfire, screams in the background can be barely heard over the storm. Yuri looks up from the walkie talkie and Hinata runs off to help the person who had just been taken out. Yuri speaks into the walkie talkie, almost frantically. When she's done, she lets it fall to the ground.

She doesn't have time to put it away, there's an NPC running at her. She does a drop role to get out of the way, then gets shot in the leg by him and cries out. That's not enough to stop her. She dives at that NPC to knock him over. As long as she doesn't kill him, it's fine right? His view of things isn't the same though. As she tries to punch him out, he continues trying to shoot her, putting two more bullets into her. She manages to knock him out though, then runs at Naoi, that boy with the hat, since she's got an opening. Another gunshot to her stomach, then an NPC runs behind her and runs her through with a weapon they'd stolen from one of the SSS members. The video blacks out as Yuri falls face-down to the ground.

A black screen remains for a few minutes, only coming back into view once Yuri regains consciousness. She struggles for a moment, but can't seem to move. Then...

The video cuts out mid-scream. ]

Yeah right.... [he mutters that, and then he just follows her, watching her as she moves towards the bed.]

So... what now? Are you going to let that Naoi into the SSS or something?

[tenminutes]

[ She can handle it. She never said she was handling it alone. ]

Naturally. He's got a real talent there. If I'm right, he'll be able to get Otonashi's memories back for him. [ She takes a seat. ] That's all that matters.

[chestboard]

[He just scowls at that.]

That's all? Just worrying about Otonashi-san?

[Kuh... is this how it felt when she had to deal with him? He's just accepted Beato, but she's also put him through so much.]

You're something else Yuri....

[tenminutes]

What am I supposed to do? Sit around here moping forever? If I'm not going to accept things as they are, I have to find a way to keep moving forward. The SSS needs someone to lead them. If I stop because of a set-back like this, I'm not fit to be their leader. [ Yuri lays down on the bed. ] I'm barely qualified as it is.

[chestboard]

[Battler just stares at her, then he reaches up to his cape, undoing that tassel and taking it off. He drapes the cape over a chair in her room before moving over to the bed.]

You're the most qualified Yuri, and just pushing all your emotions down and becoming numb over it isn't a good thing either. [He sits down on the bed as well.]

Trust me... I know how it feels when you think you're not good enough. [since he's the game master now and all, it's difficult.]

[tenminutes]

Angel's human. Everything I've been going on until now has just been-- [ What did Steve call it? ] A desperate plan.

[chestboard]

[He lays down as well, scooting closer to her and bringing an arm around her.]

What could you do-? It wasn't a desperate plan... it was your only plan, really. What other options was there? Give up and disappear?

[tenminutes]

It was desperate. You said she was human a long time ago. Steve tried to tell me she was. You two are the only ones who ever criticized me, you know. [ Well. And Hinata, but she stopped pushing him off of roofs and he never yelled at her really again.

Yuri scoots closer to Battler, but she doesn't bury her face in his chest. She wants to, just a little bit. Let him hide her from the world, from everything that hurts. She can't do that though, not completely. She can't lose herself in him. ]

Does that mean my only option left is to give up and disappear? Since I'm out of other options and you don't want me to keep pretending everything's okay.

[chestboard]

[Battler is looking at something above her head, not looking down at her just yet. She's right though... he was sounding like a jerk yet again, basically telling her to acknowledge that there's no way out and that she should just disappear.]

No.... that's wrong. I just didn't like seeing you so numb about all of this, but.... I don't want you to disappear either.

[tenminutes]

[ Yuri's just sort of staring at his tie idly. ] I'm not numb. I want to be. I'm still the one who always needs saving when I can't do a thing to save anyone else. No matter how hard I try. And try. And try. [ Then she shuts her eyes quickly, tightly. Trying.. she can keep at that forever. But losing all that she'd done, even if she hadn't gotten anywhere... it scared her. It was what had almost happened. Everything had almost gotten lost. She had almost lost herself and everything she had left. ]

[chestboard]

[Battler pulls her closer against him, hugging her a little tighter. She just wants to be strong, and he knows she is- she's way stronger than him at least.]

You've saved me Yuri... I don't think you realize it, but you have. That counts for something, right?

[tenminutes]

It won't if I can't save you when it counts. [ It's obvious that her throat is tight. ] It would just mean that you lose that much more. [ She'll lose that much more. ] If you die, then that's it.

[chestboard]

I won't die.

[He said it firmly. Battler moved, bringing a hand to her cheek, his fingers moving across her skin.] I won't die, you'll be right there to stop whatever it is that gets me. I know it.

[tenminutes]

I don't have a great track record saving people, Battler. [ She opens her eyes halfway, glancing at his hand. Her confidence was.. really shaken. She'd never talked to anyone like this before, either. It was scary. Raw. Battler being the one she was talking to was probably the only reason she hadn't lied and said she'd be okay. Battler was the only one who was allowed to know that she could be anything other than okay. ] Do you really think I can do it?

[chestboard]

[He's grateful that she's at least willing to show this much, at least able to talk to him about this without lying and saying that she was okay. Battler was more open with a lot of things though, it was much easier to tell what he was thinking.]

I know you can, I have a lot of faith in you. Whatever it is I bet you'll.... I bet you'll even come riding in on a white horse, just like a knight. [he's so damn cheesy still.]

[tenminutes]

I'll try. [ She says it quietly at first, but.. she finally looks up at his face after that, her tone almost normal. ] I'm not riding a horse though-- you're the cliche moron, not me.

[chestboard]

[Okay, he smiles at that.]

Not even a little horse? A pony?

[tenminutes]

Adults aren't supposed to ride ponies. They're too small!

[chestboard]

Too bad... that might have been cute.

[He's bringing a hand up to her forehead, brushing her bangs out of her face.]

[tenminutes]

I don't like ponies that much anyway. I'm a dog person. [ Yuri closes her eyes for a moment while he does that, but she's still got them on his face when she opens them up again. ]

Man.... I wish I could have a pet or something. When you save me and I go home, maybe then I'll get one.

I'll even name it 'Yurippe'

[tenminutes]

If you name a pet Yurippe I'm going to have to take it away so you don't do weird things to it.

Why would I do weird things to it?!

I somehow imagine you'd try to do weird things to anything you named after me just because you still haven't gotten permission to do weird things to the actual me.

[he frowns at that!!]
