...Do you think...the friends you meet in your lifetime help to define who you are? Or is that something that you can only do on your own?

Maybe I shouldn't be worrying about this now. We've got more important things to think about at this point. I'll just end up distracting myself, and I don't think I can afford to do that.

Experiences shape who we are. And those experiences are things shared with others - whether friends, enemies or lovers. Man cannot live in a vacuum - he is defined and defines those around him by, for good or ill.

...Maybe you're right. But if someone's been on their own for a long time? What kind of person would they be without anyone else to influence them?

Simply being physically alone doesn't stop one from being influenced by the outside world. Whether by music or religion or philosophy, the thoughts and creations of other people have an influence on others lives.

The way she talks, it's like my power is influenced by the kind of friends I make.

I'm not sure what that would mean. You shouldn't make friends based on what you can gain from them.

I can't. I'm always dreaming when I meet her.

I said it was hard to explain. I...kind of meant the whole thing. I see these kind of prophetic dreams, I guess you'd call them. There's this place called the Velvet Room, something about a contract...I probably wouldn't believe it if everything didn't seem so real.

Strange things happen to a lot of people here. There's no reason not to believe yours.

I keep getting weird looks when I explain I can summon spirits from my mind and have one for each friend and acquaintance I meet.

It's tough to explain. I guess the bottom line is that before recently, I never thought about how other people can change someone.

If you asked me... I'd say yeah, of course they do. They're not the only thing, but... I don't know what I'd be if it weren't for my friends.

I think so. I think there are some people who come into your life and change it forever. Maybe not ALL people, maybe not even all friends -- but I do believe and personally know that there are some people that were meant to be in your life for a reason, even if it's not always a great one. You still learn something, and change at the end.

Everything in your memories helps define who you are. Friends, family, even acquaintances help that along. There's a part that comes just from you, but all of that definitely makes you who you are. Without a different set of memories, you're someone else.
