[ Natsume's walking through what looks like a forest with an umbrella in his hand, his notebook that has access to the community in the other. He stops near a tree while it's still raining lightly and talks. ]

I just wanted to let everyone know that everything turned out okay. I guess I worried some of you with my last post...

[ There's a pause, then Natsume looks out around the rain. ]

It's Sunday here so I don't have school and I wanted to show everyone something that I saw the other day. It only happens when it rains and the sun comes out. It looked light enough that I think it should soon.

[ Natsume keeps standing there while the rain keeps drizzling lightly, looking a little disappointed that the sun hasn't come out yet. Seriously it must be like 6 in the morning. Natsume shrugs one of his shoulders like he's trying to brush something off (for those with spiritual abilities, they can see it's a little green youkai that looks like a frog with really long legs and a paper mask over his face and a straw hat that had hopped onto his shoulder just because it was there. To everyone else it probably looks like he was trying to shoo a small bug though. Still waiting, so Natsume speaks up again. ]

I guess while we wait, I'll ask a question. What kinds of places are your favorites to visit near where you live?

[ Almost as soon as he asks the question though, the rain seems to let up so Natsume looks up and closes his umbrella, glancing at a field behind some of the trees he's in between as he moves the camera to show the field. As the sun starts to come out, the whole field seems to slowly light up. ]

There's nothing on my shoulder. [ And to prove it he moves a hand to try to brush the youkai off. The youkai hops out of the way and on top of his hand, of course, and Natsume drops the journal. Aya can just see trees above them now as there's whispering in the background.

Natsume-dono, if I may draw your attention for a moment--

and Natsume almost immediately hisses out, quietly. ] Not right now! Come back after dark.

Why are you trying to lie about the presence of a youkai to another youkai? And poorly, at that.

Because the youkai in my world aren't visible to everyone. You and I would both look like crazy people for saying we see something.

But why try to pretend the youkai wasn't there? I made it clear I could see it too. Ah- unless, if you wanted to make me believe I was seeing things!

I'd need photographic evidence! If the youkai of your world aren't visible to everyone, there's no guarantee they'll show up in the photos. And where would my proof be then?

They won't. Photos, paintings, writing. They don't show up to normal people and writing just looks like scribbles. If there were a way to prove it I'd know.

[ Because that was what he spent his childhood trying to do. To make people see that he wasn't insane, he really was seeing something scary. ]

[Hatate's thoughtography ability could probably make them show up in photos. but, Hatate is a loser so Aya won't even consider her.]

Can they touch other people?

They can touch people who can see them normally. Others, they pass through like a gust of wind unless they're powerful enough to do it intentionally.

Hmm... would the youkai of other worlds be visible to ordinary humans in yours?

Spirits are too dangerous to humans because humans are too dangerous to spirits. He... wants to say that they'd be able to get along. That it would go well, but he's seen what a lot of humans are like around them. Even though they can see them and went through the same things he has, a lot of humans just hate. Some youkai do the same.

Even if only a little while ago he would've jumped at the opportunity, he has too much to lose now. Too much to protect. ]

Not all humans and spirits would even consider tolerating each other, let alone respecting each other. From both sides.

[ He knows because the ones who respect him respect him specifically. They've even asked him to try to exterminate humans for them before. (Which he firmly said no about.) And he's helped human friends to exorcise ones who wouldn't stop trying to hurt people, just the same as he's protected spirits from humans...

If everyone could see each other.. ]

I don't understand why, but I don't think it'd be fair to anyone. Especially not if my only reason was a selfish one.

Oh, I already know that. The humans and youkai here in Gensokyo are forever at odds. Of course, there are exceptions, but they're few and far in between.

It's the same here even with most humans not capable of seeing them. A lot of humans become exorcists and don't care for spirits at all. I don't blame a lot of spirits for hating them, but it's just a vicious cycle.

I don't think it's really my place or that any single person could do that.. but it'd be nice.

[ At the very least, a lot of youkai trust him. ]

Humans may not trust you for that way of thinking, you know. And maybe some youkai as well. It's unheard of to be an ally of both.
