I have seen that many of you have used this site to find personal answers. I, as much as I hate to say it around you humans, have a profound issue that I can not answer alone. So I want to ask you a few things in hopes of finding some answers...What is life? Is it decided by your origins? Can you only be classified as 'alive' if you are born a certain way?

How can one know why they came to be? I wish to hear your thoughts.

...I am a clone. I was made from the genetics of Mew, the ancestor of all Pokemon. I was told that I was made to be an experiment for humans trying to play god. It makes me wonder if I am truly alive or if I am but a shadow of my other.

I mentioned humans simply because I am aware that many of those that use this site are human. Truthfully, I hate to ask them for anything so having a discussion about with another who isn't human is welcomed.

So what defines life is how the individual chooses to live it? What does that say about me then? I have existed for only a short time but I have always been confined in walls. First in a tube which I was made in and now in the hideout of a crime lord. I have had little chance to choose how my life has been led. Does that mean my life is not my own?

Your case is still not great though. Even if you came from an egg, you were still born. Pokemon all hatch from eggs as well. I on the other hand was created in a lab. Though I do agree with you about how humans are born.

Honestly, though... I don't think anyone's really got an idea of why they're around. You sort of just... have to figure that out for yourself. I'm not sure if I've even got an answer for myself.

I see. The problem is that I have no clue as to what my real purpose is so I can't even begin to try and figure it out. The scientists said they made me to see if cloning was possible. They cared little for me though as they wanted me to be a lab rat. The only one who might have some form of clue to my reason is Giovanni, but I am doubting him as of late. He is a shrewd man who leads a criminal organization. I am is partner but I am still left in the dark on many things.

At the risk of sounding cliched, life's just what you make of it. It's not your origins that decide anything about you, not really. It's what you do with what you've been given. At least for sentient life, which I'd say you definitely count as.

Life is defined by how you use it Doctor? I have only made to real choices of my own in my life. One was blowing up the lab I was created in when the scientists wanted me to be their little experiment. The other was joining Giovanni as he said that he could teach me to control my powers and show me my purpose. I wonder what that says about me and my limited exposure to life and choice.

I find one's origins do not truly matter; despite how one is created or the bloodline of those that came before, it is an individual's own choices which matter. And I believe it up to that individual to decide how to live.

As for 'why'...that's a bit more difficult from my perspective. I would like to say that people are able to decide for themselves why they exist, yet it is not often so simple.

I will agree to that on some level. While I may not of chosen my purpose but I have denied the purpose that my creators tried to force on me.

Unsure is not the right word. I know my past well, especially the details of my creation. It is also hard not to focus on the past as I have not existed for that long. I was created only a few months ago. Besides, how can I look towards the future when I don't even know what I want from it without knowing what my purpose is?

As to why... that is up to you to decide. Only the fatalistic claim they were born with a purpose they have no option to dismiss.
