[ video ] Guess who doesn't get all the holiday cheer

[ The feed opened up to Yuri, a rare look of thought on his face. He looked as if he was mulling over something in his mind, and he just kind of stared in the feed for a while, before finally talking. ]

So, I got the basic idea of this whole "christmas" thing. Like the presents and all that. But... [ He sighed. ] I guess you could say I wanna know more. It's not everyday you hear about a holiday from a different world. Like the story behind it, and all that.

[ Take a picture community, Yuri's actually interested in learning about something for once. ]

I could sent you a few books that explain Christmas in a detailed way, or post some links here. Long story short, the different cultures celebrate it for different reasons but it often means the start of something new.

There's also audiobooks. More or less. For those who are Christian Christmas means celebrating Christ's birth, held on December 25.

Different people celebrate the holiday for different reasons and in different ways. And some people don't celebrate it at all.

A lot of people celebrate the secular version of the holiday, but it isn't worldwide, no.

I'm one of the ones who enjoys it as a secular holiday as well. I used to go to church on Christmas Eve with my parents, but it's been a few years since I did that.

The Japanese don't really celebrate it that much, it's more Christmas Eve that gets all the attention.

Christmas is more heavily celebrated in the Western culture... they focus on presents and everything ihihihi~!

A large round man with copious facial hair is supposed to slide down one's chimney in the dead of night while the house's inhabitants are asleep to deliver gifts.

Or, at least, that's what I remember from the few stories I've heard about this particular holiday. I'm mostly certain the main purpose has something to do with religion, heavyset chimney intruder aside.

It's a religious kind of thing. [ Still weird though, to think his world doesn't even have it.. but then again, there's more weird worlds on here, she still remembers how Link didn't even know what aliens were. ]

But it's become more commercialized lately, which is why we've been starting to celebrate it a little more in Japan too.

Hello, Yuri-san! It used to be just a religious holiday for a religion that doesn't have a lot of followers where I live, but now it's a day where your family is together, parents give children presents anonymously by saying they were from Santa-san, and everybody goes out for KFC before eating Christmas cake. For a lot of people, it's also a special romantic holiday where they go out. There are decorations everywhere, too.

Christmas is a holiday to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the son of God, God is the overall omniscient creator. There's a whole big long story about Jesus that I could go into, but that's the basics about Christmas. I mean I guess I could go over Nativity and all that but... Either way, a lot of different people believe different things and I will be the first to say I don't know most of the other ones but the whole lack of at least knowing why Christmas is called Christmas? A little embarrassing.

Questions?
