Do you have a New Year's resolution? If so, is it any better than these people's?
What - is it that time already? Man, whatever I come up has to be better what those guys did.
I've been thinking about it, but I don't know any that aren't embarrassing to admit.
I don't doubt it. Those are some terrible resolutions.
It's fine if you want to keep them to yourself.

Shoot first and ask questions later. I've lost count of how many times we've lost someone we were chasing because someone insisted on getting answers first.
I want to practice more self-control, but a concrete goal is more likely to actually be carried out.
You might be right; maybe that's a little too direct. That's what I wish I could take as a resolution, I guess.

That might have been my resolution a few years ago. Then it was to do more for my friends. Now I think it's more to be a better person worthy of them.

Those are all pretty reasonable, if you ask me. I'm a few steps behind you on that road, though.

The idea then is to find a challenging goal that I can know how to achieve. Something like "practice self-control" is vague and hard to quantify. When a writer wants to write more, they challenge themselves to write a certain number of words a day, and at the end of the day they know if they have or have not lived up to what they set out to do.
Hold on... Oh, right! This post is about resolutions. Oh, uh, I guess mine is to spend more time with the person I like!
