Morality Question - Canon Bump

So uh... question for everyone here. Say there was a powerful book, hidden away in a fairly accessible area to a few people. Let's call it "The Manual of Awesome Volume 1" presuming there is a second or third volume. In game terms this book will shoot you over the level of the Final Boss to the point that you could poke him and he dies.

It's like skipping 11 levels in Dungeons and Dragons.

Or killing Voldemort in book 1.

Would you even attempt to go get it? Knowing full well that someone is going to read it JUST to pass an exam?

technically i guess what people wanna do with stuff like that is their own deal. They're the ones that have to live with short cuts right?
i'm just saying - i'd rather do all the work and know what to do later on then cheat just to pass something once - then not know itwhen i really need to.

Well it's not really ours, it's supposed to be a legendary book kept at the bottom of the Library Island. And apparently it's supposed to give you a super power up just by reading it.

I've been trying to teach them English but the lessons aren't sticking. And if they fail, I'll be sent home.

I don't think it's forbidden, just hard to get.

My students, the ones who want to go down there. And if it is a legendary book I'd get in a lot of trouble if it got burnt.

Even if it's just for an exam it will doubtless have many other uses.

Mmm. Well, I don't know how much use I'll be to my students. I did something that left me kinda baseline normal for three days since I kept looking for easy solutions.

If it's cheating, then why would they leak out the rumor in the first place?

I don't know. But reading a magic book just to pass an exam is kind of cheating, isn't it?

Besides, exams should be passed on one's own merit.

Isn't it your responsibility as a teacher to ensure they pass? Using magic to solve your problem in this way would be unethical. That's not what magic should be used for.

... I wouldn't. But then I've got enough experience to know that looking for shortcuts to power always has a price that's more than the power is worth.

Yeah my students have none of that, and even then it's just a rumor too. We don't know if this book is down there at all.

Well the fact is that I'm their teacher, and yet I've got a high investment to see them pass. Logically I can't let them do this, and physically I can't stop them.

Perhaps the adventure would be equal to the energy needed for study? Fun is important...of course...that also depe4nds on how dangerous said fun is.
