Man, that Escape was something else. You know, it figures--you meet a pretty avatar and she tries to kill you.

[That's when the virus hits. And before he has the chance to register that he's suddenly younger, he falls backwards and hits the floor.]

[A pause as he realizes what that means.]

You can eat anything with chicken. They offered mashed potatoes and corn, which is a little lackluster.

Those aren't very interesting. Not spicy enough. I like it when they put the skins in the mashed potatoes so the texture is interesting, though.

[Kefka wipes his hands on a napkin, then pulls his inventory bag off his belt. He can fit a lot more in that thing than it appears to, thanks to the magic of video game inventory systems.]

Does the mage armor come with a cool cloak?

Nah, the cloaks come separate from the armor.

Oh, come on! The swishy cloak is the best part! All right, heavy armor, then. Might as well go all-out.

[Kefka pulls out a White Cape and Diamond Armor from his inventory.]

I like, I like! I should put serious thought into keeping a stash of costumes on-hand at all times.

You mean you take off your equipment? On my world, most people try to keep their stuff on at all times. But you're from an Earth, right?

Yeah, though my real body's stuck in another dimension--usually, at least. Right now with the virus, I've got my real body or at least a damn close facsimilie. Might be able to program something into the avatar to keep around extra data, though...

That sounds like quite a predicament. Mind telling me about it?

[Kefka starts digging around for some more cool things in his inventory, pulling out some golden Miracle Boots.]

Well, an emergency teleportation into another dimension that should have killed me didn't. Instead, I was left pretty much in a coma for thirteen years. But since I'm a genius, I managed to put together a solid holographic avatar that could I could sync with to interact with the world while my body lies in stasis.

Woah! How'd you manage to do all that in a coma? Did you use psychic powers or do you have a computer in your brain?

Got my brain synched up with the computers around me--pretty much everything was computerized around me, so it was easier than it sounds. And I activated a robot I'd been building and instructed him how to generate the avatar while I worked on the rest of his systems so I don't have to hold his hand everywhere.

So you're controlling the whole thing from where you are, in a coma?

[boostup4beetbuster]

Yep. Goal's to eventually get my body out of there without killing me, but that's pretty much it.

Hmmm. Do you think magic would help?

[boostup4beetbuster]

Not sure, to be honest. Despite all the people running around in multicolored spandex, magic's kind of rare in my world, so I've got no experience with it.
