The ewes back home must be making milk for the spring lambs about now. The cross-quarter sabbat is here. Will we see spring soon? Or is there still snow yet to fall? The day seems cloudy here, which means that, for us anyway, spring is soon to come. The serpent has tested the weather and declared thus.

Groundhog Day is similar to Imbolc, based on what I gather from your description above, only there is no religious significance to it. It is said that if the groundhog sees his shadow, then winter will last another six weeks. If he does not, then winter will be over soon.
