Not much to say about mine. I have an aunt back in Paris and a cousin who I'm currently visiting with.

Yes! I can see them and speak to them, actually, and am very knowledgeable in their culture.

Oh- I'm not a medical doctor. Doctor as in expert in my field. But no, I'm not one myself.

What about other Downworlders?

You know of faeries. What of the vampires, warlocks and werewolves?

[moonspell]

Is downworlders what you call them in your world? I'm aware that such things exist, though I haven't personally met them. I've met a witch before, though I'm certainly not one myself.

[ A lot of people confuse that distinction. ]

My primary field of study is fairies and my only ability that most humans would deem abnormal is the ability to see and speak to them. I act as a liaison between humans and fairies.

It isn't normal for mundanes to see Downworlders... Are you sure you're a normal human?

I'm not normal, but I am most definitely a human!

[ There's a bit of offense in her voice. Not because she has anything against fairies but she just.. she's spent her whole life being scorned for being able to see fairies, with a lot of people commenting on how she looks like a witch because of the color of her eyes or how she's probably a changeling, so she didn't fit into the human world. But she wasn't a fairy, so she could never really fit into theirs either, even if they were more accepting of her. At the very least she sounds indignant while she explains. ]

It's a really rare trait, but occasionally there are some humans who have the ability to see them. My mother could before me as well. They used to be a lot more common, but it's a lot harder now that most people don't believe in fairies.

It's just very unusual. Maybe you are some sort of psychic.

I'm telling you, I'm a fairy doctor. It's not magic or a psychic ability, it is quite literally only the ability to see fairies. Everything else is knowledge that I've worked quite hard for.

I thought faeries took care of their own kind.

I'm used to having to explain that I'm not a witch or anything magical, but I've never had to explain that I'm not a medical doctor more than when I gained access to this community. I don't take care of them, my doctor title comes from being an expert in the field of. They have other types of doctors than medical in other worlds, don't they?

It's not a term or field I know that much about.

There are physicians, which are medical doctors, and there are doctors of the academics who are experts in their field of choice. Whether that be fairies in my case or of even of philosophy, or a doctor whose expertise is in rocks, as a geologist, or one who is an expert in the studies of the past as an archeologist or historian, there are a many types more than just physicians.

I study and apply my knowledge to act as a liaison between the fairies and humans.

Humans know about faeries in your world?

[moonspell]

Some are aware of them, though many refuse to consider what isn't in front of their face. I'm presently employed though so obviously some do, though it wouldn't matter if they did or didn't. Fairies are there regardless of whether humans believe in them or not and if someone doesn't work with both fairies and humans it becomes difficult for either to live in peace.

Which makes it all the more important that if I have an ability to see them I need to use it as I can.

I don't think I can decide whether or not I am for myself, but I try to be.

What do you do? As work, I mean, not regarding fairies.
