Yeah, living in a city that got destroyed by Metal Heads will do that to you. And it's tough to fool Daxter - he's been my best friend for ages and he's spent the last few years riding around on my shoulder all the time.

Seriously, though, what'd you do to set them off like that? I've been doing my best to keep my mouth shut here, but, uh... I think you might have a mission coming up. How do you fly those leg things?

... I keep forgetting you do magic in your world. "Magic" and "aliens" really just don't want to go together in my brain. So I just concentrate and boom, I'm flying?

Hmm... so I should be more commanding then?

Concentrate yes. Try to connect to a "Familiar" feeling. Like the feeling of flight. It should summon up my actual familiar.

Not really. Try to be more casual - they're my friends, they're only sort of in charge of me.

Huh. Well, at least I know what flying feels like. By summon your familiar, do you mean there's like an actual thing I talk to or...?

It's a cat, sort of ethereal but you'll sort of feel connected to its presence when you connect.

If you're lucky, everybody will ignore Dax and just think he's looking for attention. With any luck it'll all blow over once this passes.

There really isn't much about it, but there's a lot of enemies. Think about generating shields when you're in the air during a sortie. You'll need it.

Why he's got it? I don't know. Something about a side job as an exterminator. I just know it's electrified and hurts like hell.

Okay. Shields. Shields I can do, I'm used to shields. Um... just don't try to do those in my body if you need them to last a long time - I need Eco to do it.

That's an odd thing. Electrified. They must be some rather nasty bugs if you ask me to require that.

I got the impression they were very small Metal Heads. This was back when they were trying to infiltrate the city the subtle way.

Oh, that reminds me. If you have to fight as me, try to grab the gems Metal Heads leave behind when they die. Big round glowing yellow stones, you can't miss them, they're the only part that doesn't disintegrate.

If you're fighting something other than Metal Heads something's probably gone seriously wrong.

Oh that would explain it. We've had small incursions of neuroi before. So it's not that uncommon.

Yeah. I don't know how much of it's true, though; he likes to "fluff up the myth". [Jak sounds like he's quoting; it's definitely not a normal turn of phrase for him.] He did get into the Baron's fortress somehow, though.

I think you're probably different enough from me that you'll have trouble fooling a lot of my friends for too long, though... let's just hope this is one of the short viruses, I guess.

He sounds like the type of person to fluff up a piece of adventure no less. But he doesn't sound like he's hurting anyone doing so.

Except for the part where they call him that because it's how he introduced himself. I'm not sure if they're joking or serious about it. The monks are kind of hard to read.

Sure, no problem. Not a lot of people go around armed in Haven City, but nobody looks at you weird if you do, especially if you're me.

... that is kind of ridiculous really. But these monks sound odd to me.

They're a little weird, yeah. But they're usually pretty reliable.

All right. You should probably know the west side of the city still has Metal Heads in it. The old nest is there, even if there's no one in charge of them anymore, and they're in the palace ruins up in the northwest side, too. The east side's mostly safe - the port in the south, New Haven up in the north.

That's good then.

Hmm, all right, I'll look around the safer sides. I'll try to keep out of trouble, but hopefully nothing will go wrong.

Could be worse, though. We could have swapped with people who have no idea how to actually use guns.

That would have been a disaster and a half. Especially one that is unskilled at flying too.

Yeah. I mean, I'm used to having wings but at least I'm used to flying without a vehicle somehow.
