Is this supposed to be a virus? I don't get it at all. They're just clothes. [ he plucks at the tunic. ] Weird, but not really that bad... I guess it's typical of the community for this to still be an annoyance, though. This had better be over soon. I wanted to make sure that I had longer sleeves on by the time I get to Reginlief...

[ he cringes, uncomfortable, but quickly shakes his head. ]

The War Games are starting in just a few days. It's going to be even less likely that I'll be able to spend any time on the community at all, so don't be surprised if it's a while until anyone hears from me again. And... [ sigh. ]

I don't intend to die, but it can't be said that that's not a possibility. I'm only warning everyone that I might not come back from this war. I can't be sure of anything yet... except that I won't lose easily.

[It's hard to tell before Eater pushes back her hood, but she seems a little upset by the community's choice of clothes for her, and it's not just the blue.]

I am sure it will only be a few days...

Then I can just hope that time still passes faster on the community than it does here in MÄR Heaven. I can't show up to the War Games dressed in this... [ he makes a frustrated noise, but in the end, he knows there's really nothing he can do about it. he already ended up with this outfit because he tried to take off the last one. ] You don't seem happy about your change of clothes either.

These are the clothes of my former superiors, the Seven Magi. We have a terrible history, as you might expect.

[She is a fallen angel after all.]

[ alviss can't even make any connection between "superiors" and "terrible history", as someone who has always idolised and hero worshipped his superiors to an extreme, and as someone who is bad at considering and understanding the feelings of others, especially when they oppose his own.

So it's the community as usual, then. I suppose it isn't enough for it to only be inconvenient.

[ he would be much more upset if he knew who he is dressed as, but he remains blissfully ignorant. ]

It rarely is. [She doesn't want to explain further, either.]

Do you know what your costume is of?

I don't. But it looks like a jester's outfit, so I'm assuming it's just more of the community's poor sense of humour.

Perhaps this is just my first impression, but you don't seem like a jester at all.

Your first impression is right. I'm a soldier. I rarely even see jesters, since I don't spend much time around castles.

[harpbeat]

That is for the best - castles are quite boring places.

Oh? Do you have experience with them yourself?

I have traveled to many places, castles included.

I've visited a couple myself, but I've never been part of a royal guard, so I suppose I haven't been around them for long enough to become bored. Actually, I'm going to a castle right now, but most of its people won't stick around once the War Games begin.

I can't say I would be either... [ grumble. ] Maybe I should save it the trouble. If I share a few fights, there's a chance that it might leave the rest of my life alone.

[ he tilts his head. ] Fairytale? It must be from Earth, because I'm not familiar with it.

[ .. wait, hold on there a moment. She squints a little bit at that kind of statement.. ]

What, ya saying you're some kinda alien?

No. I come from MÄR Heaven, which is a different world entirely. We can connect to Earth, and a rare few people will travel between the two worlds, but I've never seen much of it myself.

.. That sounds like an alien to me.

[ From another world but still knows about the Earth and can go there sometimes? Yeah, like some futuristic kind, even if he looks fairly human.. ]

Except you're not all green and tentacle-y.

Are you sure you're not talking about some kind of magical creature? Or are there really things in your world that match that description?

Well, I dunno, not like I've ever seen an alien before! But when people talk about 'em or show drawings of them or whatever, it's like they all look like that!

[ .. oh, wait. ] And usually they only have one eye too! [ Clearly you suck as a convincing alien, Alviss. ]

I've long given up on trying to divine the purpose behind any of the community's actions. The theory that it's all purely for its own entertainment is seeming increasingly likely to me.

... Please be safe, Alviss. I will hope for your victory, and should there be any aid I can offer, you should not hesitate to ask for it.

Thank you, Saber. I'll try to make a report after each match, so that people will at least know whether I've survived or not. I don't know that there'll be anything you can do to help us, but I'll be sure to keep the offer in mind.

In the end, I'm not so concerned about my own life as I am about MÄR Heaven. If the Chess Pieces were defeated once and for all in the process, I'd gladly give up my life.

[ because dying is also much, much better than being eternally undead and sixteen years old. ]
