Does anyone know what a manticore is?

It seems everything in the city outside the Library is connected to it. And now I seem to have a card with a protection spell from 'Manticore Street'.

I assume it is some kind of magical monster, but does anyone have more information? I would like to know what I might face should I venture out of the Library.

Looking it up on Wikipedia, you get the description of a Manticore but I'm not too sure how much this pertains to your situation.

Wikipedia is a online user-inputted encyclopedia. It's become a staple of information and is hosted the world over, even in my time.

How useful! Its like a card-catalogue and library all in one! I wish I had access to that here; it would make organizing this place so much easier.

It's being updated almost every day, so there's always something new. From games to videos and movies and books and literature it's all being cataloged. Mind you it's not quite as good as a official source since sometimes the entries can be scarce.

It's an internet thing. Since you're connected to the Community try writing www.wikipedia.com and see if that works out. You might be able to access Wikipedia from there.

I...I don't know. Its possible, though I'm hoping its just the street name. But given how strange this place is, it really wouldn't surprise me.

What are the street names generally like where you live then? Are they all named after dangerous monsters? Doesn't really sound like a relaxing kind of city.

I don't really know. I've never been out on the streets before. I just know this name because a man gave me a card with it on it.

[ Normally she would've found the whole "never going out" thing a little weirder, but then again, that's pretty much the life she's lived up to a point where she could just sneak out by herself.. ]

He knows me. And he showed me how to open my book and gave me the card that protected me against the Madam. I think that makes him a friend.

Well, I wouldn't be too quick to judge on that one. I mean, you never know for sure who you can trust. Sometimes people try to act all friendly and helpful to you just so they can betray you later. .. Or, if they're a guy, just so they can get into your pants after a while.

It screeches with the power of a thousand eagles, its tail can kill you with a single stab of its poison, but it's also fuzzy and cute and likes yarn balls! The wings are just for show.

The poison seems right up our alley, though.
