To the members of this community,
I am certain that everyone is aware of the importance in the entity of power. Logically, a certain amount of strength is necessary for survival.
However, history has proven many instances where people have succumbed to their greed of acquiring too much power. They can be easily led down the wrong path, and then left wandering around in the eternal darkness of their own creation. Power that exceeds reasonable limitations would likely cause fear and discontentment amongst many of the bystanders affected by the carrier.
And yet, in spite of knowing these dangers, people continue to have the desire to become stronger, and some pursue their goal relentlessly, regardless of the possible consequences.
Those of you that may have been affected by, or even experienced this ordeal, what would you be willing to risk, and perhaps even relinquish completely, in the pursuit of power? How does one decide which point is appropriate to stop?
Signed,
Gaara of the Desert

The Pridlands was once ruled by a king whom had killed his brother and asked us, his one-time allies, to kill his nephew, all to become king. He had promised the hyenas saftey and plenty of food, but the plan did not work and the Pridelands came close to being a wasteland. Just before his nephew, who had ran away returned to take the throne, he was so attatched to his power that he was willing to let both his own people and the hyenas starve to keep it.

So you believe that the point of ceasing is when one causes other people to suffer.
However, that can be entirely dependent upon perspective as well, don't you agree?

Though I have witnessed others over reaching themselves in order to gain power. Most cases, it does become their down-fall.

For example, Dr. Eggman would most likely be capable of upgrading my weaponry; however, in the process, he would likely modify my programming to prevent me from proceeding with my mission to destroy his empire. This outcome would be unacceptable.
no subject
Really. Are you capable of overriding his programming somehow?

There have been several obstacles in my path to obtain absolute power, fools who dare to stand before a god. Heh, they attempted to seal me away, and like idiots they thought that they had stopped me.
The only "appropriate" time to stop is when one has achieved their goal. It's a simple question.

At whatever cost necessary, huh?

No matter how powerful one individual gets, a group of them with even moderate powers have the potential to outlast. That's where the turn strength in numbers come from, that's why with every great leader, there's a rebellion of people that rise against and overthrow them.
It's all about knowing how to use the power you've worked so hard for, rather then abuse it.
Personally, as an artist, I view all strengths as equal, they just excell in different areas, you know what I mean? Of course, that's just me.
no subject
Mmm... my villagers did not believe that, although it is certainly an interesting perspective.
Really.

Um, hey...I've been wondering about something, actually. How do the ninja in your world usually train?

Hmm? Well, it depends on what attribute we want to improve.

I won't deny searching for power. Obtaining that power. Wanting, and needing, and hungering for the power to do what I must.
But it's like trying to hold onto sand. No matter how hard you clench your fist, it still slips through your fingers. But all you gotta do is pick up another handful, and keep it as long as you can.
No matter the cost.
[Locked to Bass]
I once had access to a great deal of power. However, I did not want to use that source. It was... unreliable.
(OOC: Gaara is amused by the sand reference. <3)

UHm... Asking your question, I suppose that sometimes is hard to knwo where you crossed the line. One thing is to need power to protect the people you care of, and another really different is to let the desire of power control your life. It's what it happened to Narissa (Edward's step mother), she was a queen, and not a bad one at all all this years but she become crazy in her desire of remain in the throne and get herself killed
no subject
...Hmm. But it isn't simple to ascertain how much power is needed in order to protect those people.
(OOC: You hit it right on the nose. Good job! 8D This is related to what Gaara was REALLY thinking about.)
