[This time the scene is Takato's bedroom at night.  He comes running into the room with barely contained excitement and drops a strange device onto the desk.  It is white and about the size of his hand, with a small glowing screen set into the center and encircled by a red band.  One side of the device has a slot that looks to be about the right size to slide a card.  

He quickly dumps a pile of cards next to it. and frantically rummages through it.]

That blue card is gone.  But... I'm sure of it!  That card did this to my card reader!  

[There is a distant flash of lightning, and Takato walks over to the window to look at the stars outside.]

If I'm right....  This is an actual digivice.  And that makes me....  [He smiles with dawning wonder.  But if this was a digivice, where was his partner?  The digivice screen had only said no data when he had checked earlier.  Slowly he turns his head and fixes his gaze on his drawing pad.  With the drawing of Guilmon still displayed on top.]

....I wonder.

[He takes the thin pad of paper and tries to slide it through the slot.  But it jams.]

Aw nuts, don't tell me I broke it.

[At that moment he hears his mother calling him for dinner, and begins to dejectedly walk through the door.  But before he can, a flash of light from behind catches his attention, and he twists around to see the digivice pulling page after page from his notebook through the scanner.  All the artwork and stats he had painstaking written over the last few days.  At last the light disappears and the device grows quiet again. 

But when Takato runs over to look, he sees the image of a red and white digital egg on the screen.]

...I have an egg? A real egg?

Which do you think is a worse cliche?

[It's Kyoto time! The long awaited field trip has arrived, and the Smile Precure are in Kyoto for their field trip! Three nights in Kyoto and a day in Osaka! What fun will be had? Anyone who wants to meet up with Yayoi has a standing invitation as well and somewhere nearby a guy in a pompadour yelled "IT'S KYOTO TIMEEEEEE!" to visit.

Maybe come visit before the day starts teamkilling Miyuki after she draws Atrocious Luck?]

I have accumulated a number of books over my time at the university that the staff was kind enough to pack for my relocation; picture books, fiction, biographies—an eclectic variety, totaling more than I had anticipated. I wonder if they added from the library itself. Librarians will do anything to insure the safety of their collection; knowledge must be preserved.

I came across a collection of fairy tales from the north while packing. One struck me: a man falls asleep in the woods and wakes forty years in the future, avoiding war and likely death. His family is dead or gone, and his town has changed beyond recognition. It does not say if he dreamed of gunshots and battle or the farming he left behind.

Unkind fate or good fortune? I wonder: what if it had happened to you?

[Arms crossed, Greed stands on the beach, surveying it with a stern stare as if taking in terribly important details only the most diligently trained eye could properly discern.]

Ground: not too rocky.
Space: enough.
Temperature: warm enough.
Seaweed: not too much.

So? How's this for Prussia's first new territory in a while?


[Prussia sticks a very sharp pole into the sand with a very awesome flag waving from it. He also has a sword.]

Excellent! Very beachy! [He laughs. Kesesesesese] I claim this land for me!



Now we just gotta get people here to celebrate it! Prussia's first conquering in... well, a couple years anyways! I'll get beer, you get people!


[Prussia gives a salute.] On it!

[Then he glances into the camera.] What? You heard us! Awesome party on the beach, courtesy of me!
