Yeah, yeah, the change in the community is really fascinating and I'm sure there's some explanation which I don't currently understand.

When someone figures it out, let me know.

Now that I have addressed that, I want to talk about something that's actually interesting.

Many of us may be aware that there are a lot of trolls on the community, and that apparently they are the last of their race. I'd like to see what we, as a community, can do about that.

They're kids. And they need our help.

So, scientists from advanced civilizations, come pool your cloning technologies here. I'm gathering DNA samples, so let's see what we can do with them.

I'm thinking test tube troll maggots and hopefully figuring out how to clone a new Queen Bee (they call them mother grubs) for these kids. Who's with me?

I'm fond of scientific challenges. I wouldn't say I know any of them particularly well enough to be fond of the trolls themselves.

Besides, it's the right thing to do. And that's a good enough reason in itself, isn't it?

I suppose that rather depends on the individual. More suspicious minds might be moved to enquire as to what is in this for yourself, scientific challenge aside.

Then I suppose we - or they, at least - have nothing to worry about.

Why would you worry?

Well, ordinarily I wouldn't except that there is one of whom I am particularly fond. And I would not want to see her hurt by this.

That implies that taking steps to revive their species is likely to hurt one of them.

Does it? I don't recall saying such, exactly.

I did not necessarily mean physically.

How certain are you that this will succeed?

I can't guarantee anything. All I can say is that I will try, but there is a lot I'm going to have to learn about troll genetics and biology before I can even begin to try to clone one.

And of course you will keep them updated on progress in an honest manner, designed not to raise hope that will only be destroyed further down the line?

I've been honest so far. I don't see any particular reason to lie, later.

The reality is, I very well might fail. I think I've been honest about that with both of the girls.

As long as you've made that clear. I would hate to think that either of the trolls you have co-opted into this venture have been led to hold a less than realistic expectation.

I suppose I should exploit silence right now.
