[ there's the sound of wind blowing fast and a woman's voice cuts in- ] -Give me your coordinates. I'll find you a safe landing site.

There's not gonna be a safe landing. But I can try and force it down.

I-I'll get Howard on the line. He'll know what to do.

There's not enough time. This thing's moving too fast and it's heading for New York. I gotta put her in the water. But I-I can try-- [ there's shuffling then static, following the sound of him making a grab for the device and it hitting the floor. it cuts back in, the wind more prominent now and the sound of the plane speeding. The woman's voice is more upset, clearly holding on to the bad news. ]

-Eight o'clock on the dot. Don't you dare be late. Understood?

....you know, I still don't know how to dance.

We'll have the band play something slow. I'd hate to step on your- [ a really large crashing sound cuts in.

-then the muffled sound that can only come from being submerged in water, there's a distant banging of metal on metal-- a shield hitting a wall, followed by movement and a very deep breath before Steve speaks up. He's a lot quieter than usual ]

T-testing... Not broken right? Is this thing on? So... I... Do you think I could bother anyone for one of those fancy worldhops? I was going to... [ a shaky breath ] --going to ask a while ago but the thing decided to be a pain. I know Yuri in particular only said emergencies and well it uh-- [ he goes silent at the sound of ice cracking for a really long moment ]

...I'll just wait here.

[ He looks down and pulls his feet in closer to himself, crossing his arms behind them and nodding silently. ] Yeah. You rub your chest, not your arms to stay warmer... ...Can you remind me to pack earmuffs next time I go somewhere?

I wonder why everyone always thinks it's your arms.

[ She's... not going to comment on next time. She can't talk about this like it isn't happening. Maybe Steve can, maybe everyone else can, but pretending something isn't happening isn't something she can do. Pretending that there's going to be a next time will just make it more painful when there isn't. ]

Beats me.

[ He puts his head on his knees for long moment, silent. Or as silent as someone shivering ridiculously can be. She's not addressing the second part. It's painful. He just does it because it maybe hurt a little less to keep thinking of it. The men always talk about a girl back home waiting for you even if you don't have one... Boosts morale in a way. Kept you going ]

Do you know where you are? Maybe worldhops will open up a little later and I can go tell someone where you are.

Off the coast of Greenland. I could... try to get exact coordinates but everything is pretty much broken or underwater over there.

You already tried everything to get out? Greenland's the really cold one right? While Iceland's warm. [ Okay, not important. ] You'll stay on here until it's too late right? I don't want you to be alone. [ He shouldn't have to die alone. ]

Greenland's the cold one. [ he's nodding silently in agreement to the rest of it, burying his face in his knees ] You don't have to watch, Yuri...

I'll feel worse if I leave you alone right now, Steve.

[ he picks his head up and looks back to her ] Going to talk to me the whole time?

The whole time. I've been alone before, I don't want you to have to die that way.

....T-Thanks. Really. I- Thanks.

I promise I won't cry until after, too. So don't worry about the last thing you see being something like that.

I won't cry if you won't.

Roger, Captain. [ She salutes him with a little smile. ]

[ He smiles at her, shaking his head ] I got that a couple of times.

Roger that, Captain Rogers.

It's almost too easy.

It really is.

I can put some music on if you want to dance. I know it's not really the same with someone like me and through a video screen, but if you wanted to try dancing, it might help keep you warm for a little longer.

Hm...? [ he thinks it over, glancing down and shifts a little ] Ah. I don't know you want to see me tripping on my own feet and falling over.

I'll try my hardest not to make fun of you.

I would appreciate the effort. [ he gives her a little smile then looks down again, spreading his legs in front of him ]

[ Yuri stands up and moves her chair under the desk, adjusting the camera so that it's viewing her standing up and holds her hand out like she's inviting him to dance. ] Come on, get up.

[ that gets a nice smile out of him. it's not exactly the same but at the same time he'd count it.

there's a long pause where he doesn't move much. stiffly glancing over his shoulder and leaning forward by about an inch then leaning back, trying to reach a hand behind him with a little face that's somewhere between being concerned and trying to laugh it off ] ...I think part of my uniform froze to the wall.

[ Yuri holds her hand out for a few more seconds. She wants to yell at him to keep trying to get up anyway, he shouldn't be giving in just because his uniform froze to the wall, but given how close to the skin his uniform is... She still wants to start screaming at him not to give up, but she knew that it was hopeless. Darcy had already said that hadn't she? That this was going to happen. That agent knew this was going to happen too, probably. Everyone from the future Steve's world. No one could have told her to just worldhop over there and stick by his side the whole time? It's not like she could die again, she could go out in the freezing cold and look for him, but she didn't-- no one told her--

A falter. Her hand drops just short of an inch, before falling to her side again and her eyes turn to the ground. It's only a second, but it's obvious how much she cares that this is happening no matter how hard she's trying to talk him through this by distracting him, making him smile. She looks back up, placing both hands on her hips. ]

I don't really know a whole lot of dances that are just for your upper body. For some reason I can't think of any specific Para Para right now.

[ he drops his hands to his sides and shrugs, biting his lip a bit. he gives her an apologetic look. It's a lot worse than he made it sound. he's stuck and he's cold enough that it's likely he wouldn't be moving around too much if he wasn't ]

What's a Para Para? [ he's nudging his shield with his foot like it might get ice off it ]
