Since this community is used to dealing with...odd relationship questions I thought I would ask one.

We all know that the community has a habit of cutting people off after a while. Sometimes they return with their memories and other times they return with a completely different set of memories. Sometimes they don't return at all.

My question is, if you were cut off from a person you really, truly cared about how can you find the strength to move on? Or should you even move on at all? Should you keep hoping that maybe someday they'll come back and you can just pick up where you left off?

Isn't thinking like that unrealistic? I'd like to believe it could happen, but I don't know if I can.

No.
That's called human nature.
Of course, if you would prefer to sit and pine indefinitely on the off-chance that the exact same version of the person you knew will return and will remember this place, I am hardly in a position to stop you.

I'm not sure.
Perhaps see if the community has an FAQ.
Perhaps there it will specified the required unit of time you must grieve for, after which moving on is a requisite.
Because this isn't something likely to vary by individual or anything silly like that.

I hear I lost the will to care after an anonymous source decided I was betraying my former matesprit because I'm not either sitting here waiting for her return or trying to force those same feelings on the version of her in my own timestream.

We deal with it, because we have to.
We were given the ability to adapt for a reason.

I don't recall saying it did.
But if we gave up every time things got difficult, where would we be as a race?

Whatever you decide, good luck.
I expect you're going to need it.
