It's a 'do if I'm damned' situation. On one hand, I lose everything; my job, my position, my dreams and hopes. On the other, I get eaten by a vampire mage.

You're equating outside involvement with the breaking of secrecy. That's foolish. You are not the only person to keep secrets, and if they have already agreed to fight by your side there is little reason they would not agree to keep matters discreet on your behalf.

Secondly, if you are still alive, you can still achieve things with your life. A corpse will help no-one.
